I think it is a sad statistic but >50% of women have been molested at some point in their lives, more often than not by someone whom they know.
 
I'd like to read that study, HR. Please link us to it. Hopefully it a) exists and b) is based on fact. Cause I have certainly seen my share of women who have lied about both (abuse and rape). Either way, all scenarios are sad

Was a stat that I read a few years back. It was based on self reporting in questionaires. How else would one come up with that stat. Not all molestations are reported to the police or prosecuted. Of course, if you believe all these women are lying, then I guess you are free to believe that.

Frankly, I don't really bother myself too much with your opinions on the topic.

Of course it is. Most people learn at a VERY early age to use whatever they can to gain things from other people. Such is human nature.
 
I'm serious about never having met and got to know a woman who didn't have some sort of story about abuse or rape. I just can't see the numbers being so high, makes me wonder how many of them are just looking for a pity party.

Maybe the ladies who told you needed to vent about it and trusted you. Maybe they felt like they were getting close to you and felt it was a significant event in their lives that they wanted to share. I have no idea. Sounds like they misjudged their relationship with you because you formed such a negative opinion about them based on the early disclosure. Yeah, probably was too early to tell someone, but that doesn't make it untrue. It probably means that they should not have trusted enough to open up so soon.

Here are some stats. I don't keep links to articles for 5 years or anything. Hey, if you guys want to believe all the girls are liars, go ahead. The article I read said that in a survey of college women in america >50% of those polled said that they had been either molested or raped at some point in their lives. Now, I'm sure I'm lying about the article, just like all those girls are lying are lying about their experiences. Truth is, some may lie, but most probably just misjudged you guys to be good guys and shared their experiences with someone whom they should not have trusted with such personal information.

How about the U.S. Department of Justice statistics which reports that 1 in 4 women will be victims of sexual assault, but that on 28% of victims actually report those assaults. Thus, the statistic is likely way higher.

Plus, I certainly believe stats compiled on feminist.com with relevant references made to their sources than some haters on ef who say that all the women must be lying to get their precious attention.

Anyway, 85% of all children grow up in homes that are considered "Dysfunctional," actually you should be surprised if you find a woman who wasn't abused or grew up in a screwed up house :whatever:

I, honestly, have only met one or two people in my whole life (42 years) that didn't have a childhood that had been, in some shape, form or fashion, fucked up .

I'm really surprised that KB doesn't believe rape statistics. I would think that from the back he would have been rubbed up by quite a few men, being that he weighs a 125lbs and has his hair done up like a girl.

yes, I suppose that they could and that some do. I think FAR more often though women are embarassed and don't report rapes at all.

Personally, if I were raped now I probably would not report it. The cops, the courts, etc rape you again and then say it was "he said"/"she said." Seems like 99% of the time, they drag the victims through the mud and the bad guys go free.

I knew this chick who claimed this guy at her work raped her. She even went to the police and filed a report only to have the case dropped when her ex testified. He was picking her up from work(while they were still together) and happened to walk by a noisy parked car and decided to be a peeking tom and look inside only to see some guy dining at her Y. So he busted out the window and said hey babe whatcha doin? and left her there. He also used her 20 something apology voice mails against her. She wanted to be with him cause he was loaded. It wasn't quite rape just regret.

That stat seems a little off to me. Look at it from the flip side...if that many women are being raped abused or assaulted, that means there are that many rapists, abusers, and assaulters, or even a smaller but still unlikely percentage of guys who do it multiple times. Times have changed and I just don't think there are that many warped guys out there anymore...but maybe I'm naive.

(I'm not calling anyone a liar, but I do think if someone is disclosing something like that early on to a guy, unless it was directly relevant to the conversation, they are looking for sympathy)

i asked about details from the friend of the friend and he didnt have a gun or weapon or antyhing she was "just scared"

if someone had just fists and tried to rape me id make so much noise and enough struggle to at least get a broken nose or black eye to show i struggled.

i dont get these women who say they are pressured into rape without showing signs of a struggle at least to fight the person off.

i think that there is a strong corroleation between mental weakness and rape.

I'm pretty sure none of them feel this way...but women certainly do lie about it sometimes and it's damaging to the real victims, though inherently sad in its own way. I can't imagine what place a woman would find herself in where she would think lying about that sort of thing would be ok, or would better her life somehow.

It just doesn't seem like a subject you just want everybody to know about you unless its an attention ploy or something they can use to get back at someone for. Like a girl talking to her new boy toy about how so and so hit me when the guy really did nothing of the sort. So new guy confronts old/still bf and fuck his shit up for no reason just cause this little hot thing was so traumatized by his abuse. Meanwhile new guy is in jail and she is back with supposed abuser. I've seen way to many fights and frendships ruined over a lying attention starved girl.

If it were true they would/shoud report it or whoever they tell should turn the rapist in. Not use it for sympathy or revenge.

Like smurfy said its an occupational hazard. Hooking is illegal anyways. And unfortunately for the rapist he probably got more than he bargained for by gettiing some type of STD from a nasty hooker.

OMG...so rapes against prostitutes should not be prosecuted because they are asking for it? You know, lots of serial killers target prostitutes too, because, sadly, so many people really do view their lives as expendable. The killers figure no one will try that hard to figure out who killed them. That is an occupational hazard for them too. Maybe we should just let them get away. I mean, why waste the taxpayers money investigating and then prosecuting. It's only hookers. They don't mean anything. They were asking for it because they have sex for money. Is that right?

lol of course a prosititute can be raped. technically anyone can be raped. however, it's also possible and likely that some have fabricated rape and assault accusations for various reasons. In the case of a prostitute, unfortunately she will likely not be considered credible because of what she does for money.

And serial killers also target gays ie J dahmer, kids/gasey, brunette women/bundy. And also if you reading most posts I never said they were asking for it nor do I think its right. Do you think prostituting is right? Do you think making media wide false accusations is right?
