Geigh.

That's pretty retarded, but at the same time I wish all this BS religious crap left american society.

Easter egg hunts are about as religious as drinking on st. patrick's day lol

It might fall on a religious holiday and share part of it's name, but it's a pretty secular activity.

Uhhhh....how are birthdays or cupcakes at all religious?? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

ps - freedom fries, anyone?

Tell that to the Joos painting their dradels. (sp?)

Easter: Pagan name (after the Goddess Ostara), Pagan symbology (bunnies, eggs), Pagan traditions (feasting, dressing in new clothes) coated with of Christian paint that unites the strengthening sun with the resurrection of The Son.

Gotta love it :FRlol:

Easter isn't a real xtian holiday...Easter is all about eggs and bunnies in this house and we are cool that it's pagan. :) I might boycott church that day. Hmmm I think I'll do some of that stuff (easter eggs) this year...I think Abby will be old enough to enjoy it...idk

All it takes is one fucking butthurt non-Christian to complain and everybody caves in. So now 'Easter' is a dirty word, just like 'Christmas'.

Like Musclemom said, the origin of Easter has nothing to do with Christianity, and everything to do with the Saxon pagan celebration of Eastre at the spring equinox as a fertility festival.

?ostre - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also, we get the word oestrus from this- which is a reproductive cycle. Hence the eggs. Rabbits are fertility symbols too.

And how did this get turned into a "Christian" celebration?

“Now the death and resurrection of Attis were officially celebrated at Rome on the 24th and 25th of March, the latter being regarded as the spring equinox, and…according to an ancient and widespread tradition Christ suffered on the 25th of March…the tradition which placed the death of Christ on the 25th of March…is all the more remarkable because astronomical considerations prove that it can have had no historical foundation…When we remember that the festival of St. George in April has replaced the ancient pagan festival of the Parilia; that the festival of St. John the Baptist in June has succeeded to a heathen Midsummer festival of water; that the festival of the Assumption of the Virgin in August has ousted the festival of Diana; that the feast of All Souls [following Halloween] in November is a continuation of an old heathen feast of the dead; and that the Nativity of Christ himself was assigned to the winter solstice in December because that day was deemed the Nativity of the Sun; we can hardly be thought to be rash or unreasonable in conjecturing that the other cardinal festival of the Christian church—the solemnization of Easter—may have been in like manner, and from like motives of edification, adapted to a similar celebration of the Phyrigian god Attis at the vernal equinox…It is a remarkable coincidence…that the Christian and the heathen festivals of the divine death and resurrection should have been solemnized at the same season…It is difficult to regard the coincidence as purely accidental” (Frazer: The Golden Bough, Vol. I, pp. 306-309)."

One would think that Christians would actually observe Passover instead, as commanded in the Bible.
Spring Spheres? Kiss my ass. Why not call them Sex Ovals? lol

It's all good....I don't care where it came from; the more holidays that make life a little more fun for the kids, the better.

I wish a slow, painful death to all the fucktards that try to suck the joy out of life with their whining.

Everyone and their grandma knows that Easter isn't a real Christian holiday and the holiday's orgins. I get tired of hearing the same things every Easter and Christmas. Soon the older generation will pass away and those ideas will be gone.

times a million.

lots of stuff worthy of passion and effort. This isn't one.

Couldn't agree more. I remember one year when I was just about the age when you "find out" about santa, the easter bunny, etc, my dad went out the night before and made big bunny tracks in the patchy snow on the shaded part of out yard making it look like the easter bunny had been there. It looked like it was hopping and then disappeared in the grassy part. My brother and I went apeshit and were so excited.

I can't wait to do stuff like that for my kid. 'Course if things keep going the way they are I'll be shipped off in a str8 (no homo poz story) jacket saying I'm delusional.

I get so angry about this politically correct sh*t, that it can ruin my whole day when I read something like this! I am so sick & tired of having to bow down to the Muslims and other extremists, whose sole purpose is to cause trouble and engage the ACLU in lawsuits against Christians and Jews.

With all that aside, an egg is not a sphere. Any teacher, Muslim or Mormon, or Atheist, should be fired immediately for calling an egg a sphere in the first place.

Now to the extremists of the world: HAPPY EASTER, HAPPY PASSOVER, and HAPPY WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT TO CELEBRATE..... But don't take MY nor my Jewish friends' rights away.

Charles

Gotta love it :FRlol:

Christians have been cleaning this kind of heathen stuff up for around two thousand years now.

We ought to have a national day of celebration to thank then for their tireless efforts to advance society as a whole.

:lmao: Damn, that's just about the funniest thing I've heard all day, seriously!

Christians advanced society?! Hell, they drove it backwards. If they still had a free hand like they did a few centuries ago we'd be beating each other with clubs and rocks.

We'd still be drowning cats and dying from the plague too, whilst still teaching that the Earth is the center of the Universe and all else revolves around it.

I love how the country that was founded partially for "Freedom to practice their religion" now basically tells everyone to NOT practice or show ANY religion...for fear of making someone else "sad"....STFU seriously! I used to love B-day and Holidays in school, I knew we werent going to do SHIT for work and everyone got to throw parties. Now you cant even celebrate or mention a kids' birthday or do anything for it. I mean seriously, you cant SAY anything publically about anyone in a negative manner because a SPECIAL INTEREST group will step in and bash you for it and make you lose your money and job. Now kids cant have any fun in school because someone else might feel like shit because they will find out how NOT FUN their parents and religion are? I mean, its their fault if they dont want to take part in the fun, stop taking it out on the kids, the kids are what holidays are for anyways.

And those pagans don't have much of a sense of humor either. Sarcasm is lost on them.

Pffft, I have a wonderful sense of humor! Don't check your karma much, huh *raspberry*

our country was founded by religious people and their "rhetoric" permeates every important governing document on which this nation was founded...back in the day (up until the viet nam era), our nation was respected and/or feared across the globe...however, as we've let the liberals chip away at our core values, we've become a nation that is despised by much of the globe...coincidence??

Like my dad always said, God gave everyone a brain, they might as well use it. That about strikes as middle a ground as possible.

Whether or not God or Gods exist, I know that society was in better shape when people at least had the fear of God in them. Seemed to hold things together a lot better than they are now with mere mortals running rampant. And lets face it; people can and will be stupid, it seems especially the more of us put together in unorganized situations without a "leader". Having a mind of our own is as much of a curse on society as it is a blessing. What type of middle ground can be struck there?

people question way too much shit...and we are absolutely better off with a set of rules and guidelines in place that you don't have to question...you just do it, because it's the right thing to do...and, it frees up your mind and your body (from having to sit around pondering shit that doesn't need to be fucking pondered) so that you can get some fucking work done.

my twin girls are at the age (they turned 11 on monday) where they are questioning all sorts of shit that i ask them to do...sometimes i give them a reason, sometimes i just say "because i asked/told you too...you don't even need to think about whether or not it's right because i already have that part covered...i asked/told you to do it therefore it's right...i've relieved you of the responsibility for making a determination as to the propriety of the project that you have been asked/required to complete...now you can just concentrate on the task at hand...thank you very much...now get your skinny little ass to work or we're gonna be here all day, when we could be out doing something fun." :)

Way to support totalitarianism!

Not everyone is capable of being like that. I pondered EVERYTHING from a very young age, I'm talking the meaning of life at less than 10 and the logic of the Bible. You can't just turn it off. It's like telling a person who is prone to depression to just stop it. You need to respect mental differences. Parenthood up to the early teens is easy. When they start becoming their own people is when you need to start being more flexible and realizing your child is not a little clone of you.

And I hate to tell you, as the girls get older, the less you respect their questions and individuality, the more they're going to resent you. You cannot treat a teenage girl like you would a teenage boy. You have to be kinder to them, and you have to respect their minds more. I'm sorry, but a boy you CAN give him an order and he'll go do it if the proper groundwork has been laid for him to follow orders (which is why governments for centuries have been able to tell young men to march to their deaths for king and country). I've often wondered if governments hesitated to put women in battle positions less because of sensitivities or sexual issues and more because the odd chick will turn around and ask that dangerous question "Why?" and get everyone thinking.

More parents should work this way.

The whole "be their friend" thing is complete nonsense. Kids want authoritative figures in their life.

it's not totalitarianism...it's our country...that's the way things work...don't like it?? be a fucking pilgrim and start your own friggin' country for chrissakes.

i love these "liberals" who think that they know what's best for them...disregarding the effect on society as a whole...that's called "selfish" and, while i'm not a liberal, i'm pretty sure that isn't very "liberal" thinking.

i give them explanations where I feel that they are warranted...they are being raised to understand that there is a time for work and a time for play...they are being raised to understand that they are members of a community and they have certain responsibilities to that community...they are being raised to be respectful but, they understand that doesn't mean that they have to take crap from people...at their age, they are allowed to make their own decisions regularly...however,those decisions are monitored...we are active parents...we don't believe that it's always best to let them make their own mistakes because we believe that is lazy...we're fast becoming a country of fat, lazy, underachievers and, if a difference will be made in that trend, it will start in the home...period.

maybe we're wrong...time will tell...i sleep just fine at night :)

kids need boundries and discipline...self-discipline is absolutely necessary and it is learned behavior.

And what most of these new-age libtards don't realize is that children want the comfort of authority and discipline. When they think they run the home, it really freaks them out.

I've seen these high-school kids who scream "I hate you!" to their parents and act-up with physical threats. My kids see and hear about that and can't even get their heads around it.

Yeah, might as well close down the legislatures and the election process while we're at it, so there are no mechanisms for change...

no haha...but, like i said, change starts in the home...it's a grassroots thing.

also, you know for a fact that if you sat down and drank a couple of beers with me, you'd find out that we're a LOT more alike than not...that's why you don't really bust my balls when we disagree :lmao:

Ain't that the truth, son! *spits tobacco* Just like them stupid negros always questioning me when I tell them to plow my fields. They ain't good for nuthin' when they always questioning their place. They ain't men, they slaves. Same thing with women these days. You wanna do what? Get back in the kitchen, woman. Christ almightly!

The problem with this world is everyone questionin' their place. If this keeps up, you know what'll happen? We'll have women in charge of businesses and negro presidents runnin' this country. Jus' imagine that, son.

What's this world coming to when you can't even beat your own property anymore?

i spent 6 years working for a minority cpa firm, at numerous times during our 25 years together my wife made a fair amount more money than me, i'm a waaayyy better cook than my wife and i'm better with the ironing board than she is too...but, i digress.

whatever...nevermind...i got work to do...peace.

I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with boundaries, limits and discipline. I completely agree that children raised without boundaries are miserable. They need to know their place in the household and hold up their end of things. HOWEVER, once they stop being children, you need to employ different tactics. You need to start acknowledging they are growing up and giving them more freedom and responsibility and trust.

"Jehovah's Witnesses"

yeah, my Dad is one...has been my entire life...strangely he's not offended his grandchildren have cake on their birthday..or celebrate Christmas..or anything else..

I think everything has gotten way wayyyy too pc

That's pretty much my strategy. It varies by kid, but here's a rough roadmap:

0-1 years: Gotta be all about them. They think they are the center of the universe and you really shouldn't interfere with that. The one exception is sleep. They have to get on your sleep schedule.

1-2.5 years: begin the transition where they learn they're part of a much larger machine (the family).

2.5-10 years: No debates. Explanations are a luxury. This is when there is one land, one king. It's a benevolent monarchy, but it's still a monarchy.

10-15 years: You're still king, but the king takes time to explain a little as he goes along.

15-18 years: Transition them toward adulthood. That's when they get to make a few decisions and learn some independence.

That's pretty much my strategy.
Interesting.

My strategy is about teaching them consequences.

For example, the youngest always spends his money while the oldest saves his. The youngest also complains about now having any.

I'm using this to teach him what happens when he spends all of his money and doesn't plan it out.
