NASA scramjet hits MACH 7 +

Very cool. I know a woman that is working on a sister project to this that is working on the designs for a hybrid scramjet vehicle that will seat.. get this: 1200 people.

Over a thousand folks on a plane that will do NY to Tokyo in about the same time it takes to see Lord of the Rings Return of the King and eat dinner. I love this stuff.

Saw the video. That thing was hauling serious ass. What you need to realize, is that previous to this, the only type of thrust able to achieve this speed were rocket engines. This is a JET ENGINE. Around the World in about 5 hours. Not too shabby!

Yeah it would be real neat talking to a friend in Tokyo and being like yeah cool well I'll catch my flight at 4 and see ya around 4:30!

But then again I'm sure ticket prices will be astronomical

I'm sure it will section itself off somehow so that it self contains the bad area of the plane and the rest of the plane flies normally.
