school shooting lesson learned?

This is nothing less than a reflection of our societies shift in moral standards and poor parenting. Parents used to instill a moral compass, and teach their kids that they should treat others the way they want to be treated. It seems now they're being taught that they deserve more than they have, somebody owes them, and that they have not been taught to be responsible for themselves. It's always somebody else's fault.

I read an article - I'll try to find it - that explained that very thing. It said that Generation "Y" is now entering the work force and even though they are better mannered than Generation "X", they expect raises and promotions much quicker and for no reason.

I hear what you are saying ... however, I was beat up and picked on regularly (I was one of maybe 8 white kids in a predominantly black/hispanic school system) from 1st grade till 8th grade. Then I went to Catholic high school with all the "upper class white kids"... surprize, surprize they were even meaner and nastier than the "underpriviliged minority kids" because I looked "too ethnic" and was poor and well, sadly THE "WRONG RELIGION". Sheesh it seems that I just couldn't buy a break growing up. LOL

The point I am trying to make is that regardless of how many kids were cruel to this one kid, going to school and blowing ANYONE away is not justified.

The thought of my coming to school with a weapon and physically maming anyone NEVER CROSSED MY MIND. Hell, the lesson life taught me is to judge people by the content of their character and not by their skin color, religion, social status, etc...

You can give several people the same stimuli and yet have each react differently.

I think that too much sex and violence on TV in media in general, not enough parental interaction, internet access without guidance, and just a general non-chalant/non-caring attitude towards our youth and elderly citizens is more to blame for these types of tragedies than the fact that A LOT of kids can be straight up nasty.... and while ALL will grow up only SOME will mature.

There are many countries where kids pick on one another, yet NEVER do you hear of such an event occuring, except for here in the good old United States.

Should be a wakeup call to the country.... no?

Yep, that's why everybody should carry guns, teachers in school especially should only teach when armed. Nurses as well and not to forget child-care workers, you never know when one of those little tots shows up with an ak-47 one day. In fact everybody should own and carry guns ALL the time.

That's the only way to keep shootings down.

not saying the act was justified. But on the note of being a pussy, If you and your chick are out and 50 guys are about to roll you up. Is it being a pussy to pull a piece, to even the odds. He evend the odds, a group of people fucking with one weaker person = the weaker person having even things out. Oh and it seems like he took long enough to do it, maybe he was just thinking about it. But mike had to punch him in the face for bumping him when he came out the bathroom.
It wasn't "evening the odds." Those people were not going to kill the kid. I think it is pretty doubtful that he only shot people who had hit him in the past, either. He did shoot his teacher for suspending him for fighting, too.

Yeah but the real question is where did he get the steroids? Everyone knows that's the only reason people go crazy and kill other people.

I detected the sarcasm, but not right away, because this is how I truly feel.

Not all, but selected individuals in schools, especially in high-risk areas, should be covertly armed.

It should rotate. Maybe the Vice Principal and the Trig teacher this week, the Lit Teacher and Guidance counselor next week. No one knows who. All are trained marksmen.

Then when some knucklehead tries to pull a Columbine, he may get one or two shots off...
