SC Trooper nails this guy with his cruiser.....

If they're allowed to use other weapons, such as firearms, how is using a car as a weapon any different?

Actually I think it's abhorrent, but I can't come up with a reasonable explanation why.

The moral of the story: If you run from Johnny Law, be prepared to suffer the consequences.

The officer didn't force the person to flee from police, he didn't force the person to run on foot. The person running created the situation for him to be hit by the car. Had the person stayed in his car and let the officer arrest him instead of running in the street, he probably wouldn't have been hit.

By the way, don't peoples' mothers teach them not to play in the street anymore?

do you really think this alone is a justification for running someone over? if someone is fleeing on foot, shouldn't an officer pursue on foot?

i have no idea what this motherfucker did, but on principle, it's irrelevant.

Yeah dude that's real cool in fantasy land....

OP said they both lost their jobs...

when you're a police officer, you are held to standards....and they had to have known that....

These police brutality incidents are pissing me off but I did not see anything wrong on that one. Fuccker was fleeing and ran in front of the car.

I agree.... Now once someone is in custody , they should be treated with respect no matter what. Be professional......

No the officer who did it either got a 2-3 day suspension or anger mgt. The police chief and safety director were who got fired.

I thought the dude died.

In most states a car is classified as a deadly weapon and what the officer did qualifies as deadly force. The suspect wasn't doing anything to directly threaten the officer or public safety, so legally that's very, very wrong.

Not going to pronounce moral judgement because it's neither productive nor my job.

Because its a fag PD. Why was he running from the cops ? I'm sure he was a great citizen...

another incident where a criminal becomes a martyr/hero for breaking the law and getting served.
why would anyone want to be a cop? with all the possible shit that can be slung your way for doing your job.

yeah, same here. Appeared to be accidental. The dude dashed in front at the last second.

from the article above the video:
-----------------------
Civic leaders and some lawmakers now want an investigation into the patrol. Those same leaders brought videos showing a patrolman ramming a man running down a side street, and flipping him into a ditch. The trooper later brags he was trying to hit the man.

When asked on the tape you can hear the trooper say, "Yeah, I was trying to hit him. I hit the **** out of him."
-----------------------

it's a lot simpler if your position is "fuck that nigger. worthless criminal, who cares what the cop did."

if you're trying to use reason and care something for the rights of those who are not cops...this story isn't as easy as "he deserves what he got."

I don't give a fuck about the dude. Just saying, as a police officer, you are held to known standards, so don't act like it's a big injustice when you get punished for not following these standards.

run from the police in your vehicle and there's a good chance they might slam into your whip with their cruiser.
same principal here...what if dude was a violent felon? a rapist/child molestor?
would you want him getting away?

Uh, no I wouldn't want him to get away. That wasn't my point, which I think I made pretty obvious with my post.

Criminals have too many rights.

I can't condone a cop hitting with his car. For all the cop knew the might have tripped at the wrong moment and he could've hit the guy in the head. Just because you're allowed to subdue a guy doesn't give you the right to do it any way you choose.
