Satellite tv question

Who has it and what are the positives and negatives with it.

My cable is going up again this month and all I am getting is a couple channels that I won't watch anyway. Plus with my RR service, my bill is right at $100 a month for basic cable. :( :mad:

i used to have it on and off, there never any problems having it switched on or taken off as long as your dish is there. I even had it once where all i got was premium movie channels and didn't have to bother with that other crap. so it's very customizable

the quality is 2x's better than cable in picture and sound. plus it's cheaper. i only had the signal lost once and that was during a very very windy thunderstorm, the signal never went out during normal or even heavy storms. My cable used to go out all the time with those bastads working on the cable lines and other problems.

Dish is so much better in every way possible. don't believe those commercials by the cable cos about dish sucking because it doesn't

++ mucho channels
++ digital quality

--may need to be adjusted once in a while at the dish for reception
--cable is less expensive

I love it. the only bad thing is you need a reciever for each room/TV it`s like a cable box for the tv.

And for each reciever you get, You pay an extra $4/ month. No big deal but if you have 5 rooms you pay $16 extra on top of the bill. Also if you decide to get the other rooms/recievers later, You have to buy them.

I still choose sat over cable.

Interesting, I am going to have to look into it some more. The satellite service can't be no worse than my cable service. :(

Although theres "digital" cable that`s supposed to rival sat for picture quality. I just got an offer that was cheaper than my sat price with HBO and a few other channels AND HD channels included. but you still need a "box" to connect the digital cable into for every TV.

It`s from IO.. something cable company.

Yeah but I hear it`s every week or so you gotta reprogram.

avg is 3 weeks - and reprogramming has taken me at the longest 8 mins. 2 mins is usual reprogram time. totally painless
