I don't know about sailing through, but it will definitely be easier to buy a Senator than to buy a college athlete.
 
How long before he is indicted with the rest of the Repubs? The GOP has had nothing but blowups in their faces all year long so far.
 
The dems are trying to use the NSA phone-tapping to somehow criticize Alito. Not working. The American people have no problem with our govt listening in on the phonecons of suspected Al Q members or supporters.

Oh. You must not have heard that Repubs - his own party - were already circulating a petition to remove him before he "decided" to step down.

He's gone. Outta there and soon outta Congress too once he is formally indicted and sentenced.
 
Actually there was plenty of press about replacements for Delay before his announcement. You should watch something besides fox news brocephus.

Alitos hearings will have some theatrics and a split vote. The real fun will be if there is a filibuster.
 
I will support any nominee who will declare Affirmative Action unconstitutional even if that means putting judges on the bench who will reverse Roe vs Wade.

Delay just "stepped down" not out of interest for his country or party but simply because he knew 100% that the position was about to be wrested away from him by his own party. He wants to make it look like he supports his party when in fact it is becoming crystal clear that his party doesn't support him now that his feet are dirty and it shows.

Delay is too selfish and self centered to give up in power position on his own.
 
Alito won't acknowledge that Roe v Wade is the law of the land. This is great. I hope we get that filibuster, we need to open up this abortion argument and put Roe v Wade on the table for full up national debate.
 
Delay's going to jail. He fugged with some of the Indian casino projects I was working on. It's well known he lied about the compensation he was taking. McCain was the one who started the whole inquiry with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Abramoff. There are about 4 other Congressman who are about to get tagged in that inquiry.

Why do we need a national debate on abortion? Public Opinion is not law.

Don't think they have the numbers for a filibuster, He'll get confirmed 70-30. That's too bad with Ginsberg getting 98-2, IIRC. Partisanship has no place in advice and consent, or didn't up until this Administration started putting up nominees.

I mean is victory the only thing that matters? Dont you want a candidate to win on his own merit and not by Rove's lies?

I mean please explain this to me b/c i would think it would bother you. Especially after what he did to John McCain and the Governor of Alabama or Mississppi (the guy with no legs)

i think he's a shmuck if you want to know the truth. i think the media and the general sheep public do not understand or realize or fuck even care the Jack Abramhoff scandal.

Put it this way, honestly, i mean this genuinely, if Jack Abramhoff and his scandal were linked to say a Bill Clinton, jesus could you imagine the media hooplah and congress going ape shit? i mean literally ape shit.

i think GWB and his cronies get a free pass way too much of the time because he pretty much pays and creates and owns any media outlet out there. and if anybody questions his shadiness and lies, you are guilty of treason and should be put to death basically.

Alito will be nominated on his merits, not because of any stunt and in spite of the attempted character assasination by Ted Kennedy. Why shouldn't he? He is supremely qualified.

McCain battled Bush well in NH and liberals got excited about it, but Bush kicked his butt in SC, and it wasn't because some fringe idiot spread information about his kids or love life or whatever. Apparently McCain understands this because he campaigned for Bush in 00 and 04.
 
The question was... does it bother you that Rove builds his entire campaign on blatant lies?
