rotator cuff question

i fucked up my left rotator cuff, on rear side, a few years ago from lifting heavy. i lightened up some and it's been very good for a couple years. about a month ago, somehow i fucked it up while kickboxing, but this time on front side, same shoulder, it's like right on bone towards front of it, where bone, shoulder and trap all meet. i think i did it from snapping jabs hard. anyway it has felt better in past 2 weeks. then last monday we had jui jitsu and i was under some 240lb 40yr old jacked biker dude. i'm like 208 right now. he had both his hands on my biceps pinning me down before we started. i somehow got out after about 30 seconds of all out, but FUCKED up this part of rotator cuff again. it was worse the following day and wednesday. i even felt like a clicking, almost like a slight dislocation??? that only lasted a day or 2. i have stretched it out daily and kept it moving. i lifted light on wed, thurs and fri, didn't do shoulders or traps. this week it's feeling better but still hurts. i did legs today, and i'm gonna do everything else this week, but light again, real light w/ shoulders. probably no direct traps. anyway does this sound like the rotator cuff, and if so, what, besides surgery can i do for it? i'm starting my 20 wk cycle mid february( prop, EQ, letro into AIFM, proviron and win). i also started taking MSN (gluc. and chond.) this past weekend and don't plan on stopping.

Man, I had the scalpal and scope deal last April, severed my supraspinatus in my rt cuff. Make sure before you get cortisone shots, that you get a MRI. I didn't, and instead of just the scope, I also got a 12" gash from collarbone almost to bicep. Took 4 mo. to do anything with it. It ripped when I hit the farthest homerun of my life, I could actually hear it. The cortisone had masked the pain so well, that I thought it was a minor injury but actually it was torn. So, I ripped it completely.

how bad does it hurt if it is ripped? i don't think i ripped it, at least not bad. it's about 50% as painful as it was day after. should i continue lifting and moving it? my wife is telling me to go get a massage. would this even help?

Mine was partially torn and I had spurs and tendinosis, from 25 years of throwing a softball. It never stopped hurting or even eased up. I had been getting cortisone before every season for years and that would make it tolerable.

Sounds like your acromial/clavicular. Is it where the bump on top of your shoulder is where the collar bone anchors in? http://www.swmortho.com/sportsmedicine.htm If so ice massage works well with anti-inflamatorys. I like Alleve actually.

whats the best chest work outs that put the least amount of pressure on the shoulders, also with slight shoulder pain should you even consider doing shoulders?

every one i know who has a hurt rotator cuff always hurts the left.....why always the left?....why not the right?....does it have something to do with the right handed person vs. the left handed person?

I forgot to mention, they cut that bone off, that bump on top of your shoulder can aggravate the muscle somehow.
Wassup Rocky? :) Saw the new Rocky movie didn't you? Sorry to hijack the thread.

thanks QS. i'm not letting anyone cut into me unless 100% necessary. not sure what it is after reading that link...1 of those. i'm leaning towards RC tendons though since when i do a shrug, i feel the tightness move slightly along front delt kinda...hard to explain. i'm gonna start icing it right now.
- would massage and AS help at all...low dose deca? i don't like deca but may consider it if it will help. i guess start my cycle as planned as long as it doesn't get worse? i'm not gonna be throwing any hard jabs at all for awhile, and no more jui jitsu for awhile.

HA. I'm gonna see it now. I'm kinda liking my 15 minutes of fame. Hanibal- I could have used some of that martial arts stuff you do. I forgot all the shit I learned in the police academy. You can have your thread back, bro.

It sounds similar to my condition. I had bone spurs develop on the acromion on both sides. The first shoulder operation made me about 85% of full strength. I'm only 5 or 6 weeks out from my second operation so I'm not ready to test it to see if the operation helped. If you go to an orthopedic surgeon make sure they do an x-ray and MRI. On my first visit he told me there was no way for there to be a tear because I could do all of the basic strength tests in his office without any problems. I kept trying to explain to him that I was a powerlifter and I could possible have a partial tear and it wouldn't show up on these strength tests because the resistance wasn't anything like what I was used to.

I'm in the same position. Gonna give this a bump.

Yup, you absolutely need MRI.
If it is full thickness tear with retraction, then surgery may be the only option.

during bench i dont let my elbows go past parallel of my body. I always use dumbells instead of barbells when doing any chest or shoulder presses. rotator cuff strengthing exercises are a must for me, i do them three times a week when I am doing strength training.

This fall injured both shoulders Supraspinatus...not torn, had cortisone & lidocaine injections....after the injection they test strength [cause the local stops the pain]....If the strength is normal [ie stronger than before the injection] it isn't torn. If strength is as weak as prior to injection you have a more severe injury, most likely torn....

Good luck, and get it checked out~ better safe than sorry.

I used a machine yesterday and it was sweet, not the same as weights but still gave me a pump and saved my shoulder.

Than did cables.
