Ronnie Vs. Sergio (Back)

Check out these pics of Ronnie and Sergio. The one of Sergio is probably from the late 60s and Ronnie's is late 90s. I thought it was cool that there was still great mass back in the day. As far as upper body goes, I think thier mass is comparable. In other words, they could reasonably be competitors on the same stage and Sergio wouldn't be laughed off (upper body only remember).

Anyway, enjoy and tell me what you think.

i'd give it to sergio(back), but look at the leg difference. :eek2:
 
Im leaning toward Sergio, the man was just enormous for any era. I think he would give ronnie a run for arms and chest to.
 
it's tough to tell from those pics....although they are in the same position they may not be flexing the same muscles.....sergio has definately got some serious thickness....as Big Fed said the leg diff is drastic.....
 
No comparison, Sergio wins hands down. Better sweep to the lats. More definition in the delts. And a waist that's about 10" slimmer.

Yeah, the hams and glutes are weak by todays standards but Sergios thighs from the front were pretty damn good. Realize also, those striated glutes on the guys today are more a matter of clen and lasix than anything else -- two things that weren't around in Sergios day.

Yeah, Sergio's hams looked pretty small from behind. But, like Nelson said, his thighs were decent from the front. The lighting is different in the pics, so it isn't a totally accurate comparison. Point is that there was still great mass in the old days. And, definately, Sergio has a better waist to shoulder ratio.

"Twins?" I kind of thought that too. Ronnie actually has a pretty small waist line structurally (though it's harder to tell now). A lot of thier bodyparts were similar. Ronnie definately is impressive and has his own thing going. But, I kind of think of him as a modern day Sergio.... to an extent.

yeah ronnies waist is so small (check out older pics) yet his upper body is so fucking big...it makes it look weird in his old police officer get-up with the shirt tucked in. lol.
 
Nice side-by-side. I think you have to give it to Ronnie, even from just the waist up. But for God's sake, Oliva couldn't have been on 1/4 of the shit Ronnie takes (legal and illegal)!!! Can you say GENETICS?!?!
 
i think you are all wrong...look at the pics who cares ronnie obviously killls him in the leg development size and definition who cares about who used what...they both used and ronnie (though may more) still looks sick who cares what you wnana look like its about freak bigg and cut ronnie has it all the sweep to sergios back is long...as is ronnies but the definition he tares him down.

serge got the back,,ronnie got the definition in the glutes/hams....serge would have had them both of he took 36iu's of gh a day,,the fat would have melted off those suckers

I have seen a lot of pictures of Sergio`s back and this comparision is not really fair. Firstly the pose is not the same, and you have no sense of who is nearer the camera.

Sergio was only 230 pounds at 5ft 11.

His back was outstanding but. And I wish I had a scanner, it lacked thickness and that lumpy defined look the likes of Flex and Ronnie have.

Also Sergio looks magnificent alone but when you see him next to someone good, like Arnold for example he isn`t quite so good. His arms for example look less big next to Arnold ( although overall his arms are bigger ).

I would much rather look like Sergio, but seriously this is not a fair comparision.
 
on pure genetics alone: Sergio. Amazing in his prime.

Hmmm... Isn't that what this sport used to be about? When someone looks at your body and says "What the FUCK!" You may have gone too far. Even as thick as Arnold was, he still had an aesthetically pleasing physique. The same can not be said for our current Olympia winner and many of the competitiors.

No wonder so many people haev been turned off by the sport. It is more of a carnival freakshow attraction than its original intention of rewarding a respected pleasing physique.
