Ron Coleman

I agree, they looked damn good, I would be thrilled to look like Arnold, and I seriously doubt I'll aim to be any bigger than that.

What I hate is when some punk kid with 16" arms says Arnold was a pussy because he was only 235, give me a fucking break, while the poster hasn't seen any kind of weight near thier in his life. You can't talk smack about those bigger and better than you, who have put in the time and hard work.

How on Earth though, could he get by for 10 years as police officer when steroids are taken so seriously in the States
with pro's like Titus and McCray doing time?

He probably wasn't stupid enough to sell them and use them at that level. Anyone that big that sells gear might as well have a big billboard that says "Steroids Here"

As to him being 'too' freaky... to each his own... but for my money, Ronnie Coleman is a masterpiece.

Dr., that ticks me off too. So many people talk smack on Arnold these days. I always ask them, "How many Olympia's have you won?!" At 6'2 235-245 he wasn't nearly as huge as the beasts of today, but to me he was perfect. He was like a living statue. He looked athletic, healthy, and he oozed the image I think bodybuilding 'should' have. People who say he wasn't big or even freaky are pipe dreaming. I myself strive to have a body like the champions of the past. Big Lou, Arnold, Robby, shit, thats as good as it gets. Hey some people will disagree, but thats just what I think.

Sure Arnold looked fantastic - you will certainly not hear me slating the Oak. He must have been inspirational to many millions over the years.

Compare Arnold to Reeves and Arnold is the freak!

BB is a sport and in any sport you will have progress.

BB is not there to please the masses or to gain social acceptance. Bodybuilding is just plain bodybuilding. So what if women find Arnold more attractive than Dorian. Who cares if Reeves looked a hell of a lot more healthy than Ronnie does.

Runners don't care that they run so fast that their fans could never hope to keep up. Boxers don't worry about being so tough that they might alienate their supporters. Fans don't have to do like their champs - you won't see me driving like Michael Shumacher.

Sportsmen are not obliged to give to the community. It's great that they sometimes do, but don't tell me that they don't get anything back from it. I don't give a fuck if my kids can look up to Ronnie or not - but now I mention it why couldn't they?

If you want to be a role model, great, go be one. If you want to be a BB freak then get used to the idea that people might not accept you.

Just like you don't like pople talking bad about Arnold, it pisses me off when people yak endlessly about the "good ole days", "today's freeks", "you can't beat Arnold"...

(if Arnold really was the best ever then BB is dead!!!)

Bodybuilding is a sport, not some "Cure the World" political movement.

Thanks for staying with me on this one.

As I repect your views I should expect a little understanding on mine.

Got any links to more outragous pictures?

Ah, I am far from close minded on this. I just don't spit out stuff about the old guys being the best as far as bodybuilding goes. I think overall some of them were the best. But who could ignore the awesome genetics Flex Wheeler has? The width of Ronnie's back? Dorian Yates over all thickness? I certainly don't. But seriously out of those three, I only consider Dorian to be a true champion. He was a great rep for the sport. He never bragged, boasted or belittled. He didn't try to turn the sport upside down, only be the best he could be. In modern times, we could use more bodybuilders like him. But hey now even he is one of the old timers, so maybe I am living in the past.

I admire Yates the most.

He was the first bodybuilder that added class to the mass of the freaks. Pictures from his early shows (ie 1985) are - to me - still amazing.

Yeah I would have to say that Dorian's character is also as admirable as his physique. (although that is an asside in BB)

I hope to meet him at the English Grand Prix, so I'll keep you posted C3...
