cant wait for the bashing of people saying manny is slow so hit training is bad, ha ha ha. Hit rules, especially mentzer hit

mentzer hit is a wasteland of delusional crap

cue the guy saying, "but how do you really feel?"

I mean, let me rephrase

Mentzer was WRONG on a fundamental level about the human body, and his program is based on these faulty assumptions. it is not optimal for strength or size, and i'd never recommend it to anyone, ever

Show somthing to support that statement.........Manny is far from slow when he takes his ritalin, but I still have a hard time believeing he trains more than a few times in the offseason..........I think he's naturally gifted on the diamond and has a head full of rocks............

I'm guessing that all of these guys are athletes...and not bodybuilders or training for strength over agility...???

They are all baseball players and ortiz and manny have way more fat then muscle and by baseball standards are slow.

Ok...gotcha. I just know so little about baseball players these days.

Mentzer style training is a great way to build a CRAPPY physique. Any style of hit imo is lame, but that's just me. Not enough volume, frequency and/or exercise rotation, and too much abuse of intensity. L A M E.

I know from experience. You can build strength off it, but expect to look like a limp dick non-lifter 6 months later. Don't say I didn't warn you when you say, "so where's the BEEF?"

HIT and MEntzer style trianing all sound great in THEORY, but totally confuse what intensity really is and take it from being a scientific measurement to a "FEELING".

How many top athletes or bodybuilders for that matter train that way and have a great physique? VERY FEW......

i became a 350 pound defensive arena football player off it. i would not of on volume. Volume is too easy. Hit is harder and its the hardness of it that makes it more effective. Did you know mike mentzer recommends a speed of 4 up and 4 down. Just another thing people dont know. What a shame

ttwarrior, sorry, but that post was S T U P I D.

Btw, did you know Mike Mentzer is dead?

Oh, and did you know that if you lift the weight with an 8 second concentric, and a 8 second negative that your results will be 200% greater than from 4/4? :p

I have read all his books, and all the nautilus bulletins and Arthur Jones articles, so I know a thing or 2 about Mentzer's training methodologies. THEY SUCK. It is however, probably the fastest way to build a crappy physique. Not every system can claim that now can it! :spin:

Any sources for this "proof"?

I'd like to see the proof too. I do know that lots of people, athletes included, have benefited from this but I find it near impossible for anyone to prove that one training method is "the best" especially for "everyone".

I'm an athlete...and even though I add in parts of different training styles to my program at times...I can't say that one program specifically the BEST.

Arena football is pretty cool. Takes a fast and in shape person to play. I thought that you guys played both ways in Arena ball?

I can also see how it takes a mental toughness to train with any of the types of High Intensity programs, HIT, HIIT, DC, Mentzer, etc...

Serious question: The 4 up and 4 down style of training, to me, wouldn't seem to build a very explosive athlete. Being explosive would be VERY important if you were playing Defense...especially in Arena Football. I train with the use of accomodating resistance and with explosive styles of lifting and I can really tell that it does make me more explosive with my jumping, as well as with my events in Strongman.
