Down with ceiling fans! LOL.
Oh, except those ones that look all tropical with the palms for blades. Those are pretty and cool.
those are an improvement, but I still don't like them. ;-)velvett said:There are some great designs out there now for ceiling fans, they've come a long way since those $50 Hunter fans.

If you "spec them" for a remote fan, then you can't go back and install a regular fan to use from the wall switches independently.
They are cool when I am using it though. But it's "just another remote". I usually have it put away.
been there, done that....silverstar1025 said:I bet it would be great when you are humping and get hot. You can just push the button instead of having to stop and get up. lol

I'm still a pool of sweat (ewww) towards the end.
Technically, it's easier to wire for a remote fan than it would be for two switches. Only one (2 wire) cable, instead of a 3-wire cable and a different connection, bigger box, etc.. It's cheaper for the electrician to "wire for a remote fan". Mo money for me. Errr, I mean... him.
and...
In older homes, where there is usually only 2 wires in the box, you can control both light and fan at the same time from the remote. No chains. Awesome. Congrats rnch.
Yes, use a fan box, please. We don't want fan blades falling and hitting our butt during the sex.

beig the anal-retenitive person i am; not only did i use heavy duty metal electrical boxes i also put 2 x 6 braces across the ceiling rafters in the attic....a spinning ceiling fan dropping from a 12 foot ceiling onto my sweaty, hairy azz ain't gonna happen! talk about a "mood breaker"!gonelifting said:...In older homes, where there is usually only 2 wires in the box, you can control both light and fan at the same time from the remote.
