There were some abuses(and I participated) but the novelty faded quickly. It always does. This is the way I see it.....

George came up with this little added "plat bomb" thing to entice non-plats to sign up. It is another benefit to being platinum. The first couple of days were fun. Plats could bomb those who they disliked or thought were attention whores on this site. I did it and that was it.

No big deal.....non-plats found a way to overcome the blacked out responses to others posts. That was pretty smart! In fact, one bombed nonplat managed to tell anyone who would listen on every other thread that he was bombed. I guess he needed the added attention to overcome his woes.

But then you had the Mods stepping in and defending the non-plats and threatening the "paying members that keep this site online" with 2 or 3 Mod bombs to ban the paying members for 24 hours. Not smart....they must have failed Business 101.....they couldn't run a gumball machine route if they threaten their paying customers. Defending nonpaying customers before your paying customers is not healthy.

Now, I admit that there will be some that will abuse the bombs....I gave out two only because I was asked and I thought it was funny. I have been Plat here since right after it was first offered. In fact, I recently asked for my membership to not be renewed once my current subscription ends. When you have power hungry Mods running around like internet policemen threatening the paying members with retalitation, I just don't see that as a healthy atmosphere for me personally.

I was billed $71.82 for six months on June 1, 2004 and I asked Corn to end my subscription once it ran out since he seemed to be the one able to "make things happened"(his words). Somehow, I thought I got added months for renewing 6 months at the time but I guess that is not the case. So, I will be asking for a partial refund since my benefits were turned off early unless they have already credited my account.

George, the plat bomb thing is a good idea and a good marketing tool. Good luck.
