Really fucked up ingrown toe nail... Help

You dig it out yourself, and it won't be gone for good. You will have to keep doing it everytime the nail grows back and deal with the pain again and again. When a Doctor does it he gets the root of the nail all the way in so it never grows back. If you can do that yourself go for it(no really don't do it).
Paulos might have done it to minor ones but if you have a real one thats bad you shouldn't do it yourself.
BTW- if you try yourself and end up going to the doc anyway it will make things worse.

i had that, but i think mine was genetic (both my brothers & my dad had an ingrown toenail). after the doctor cut it out he put some kind of acid on the sides of the nail to kill the roots & prevent it from growing sideways again.
the only local anaesthetic i can think of is cocaine. good luck finding it in san francisco
Maybe instead of looking for a local anaesthetic you should get high on alcohol or DXM and perform surgery on yourself

I've cut plenty of ingrowing nails out.......no biggie unless its a bad one. If you want to lose the pain why not just ice it to death? That will numb the worst of it whilst you sort it out.

i had one last year and dug it out no problem and i got one on both sides of my nail from my kayak this summer and dug it out aswell
if it isnt to bad a doc will give you triple action polysporin and it should go away,and if its bad they cut it out at the root and you will have a fucked up looking toe nail where its way smaller
its your choice ,and it doe's not hurt that bad

ive had one for about 3 years.. i cut it out myself.. but.. for some reason it doesnt seem to completely heal.. it has stopped bleading now.. it made mess of my socks for years.. now it just.. is almost healed...

I used to get them bad when I was younger and first started running.
if you cut your nails too short and/or have shoes that are too tight, then it will cause them more often.
I used to just tear my nails off and it would leave a jagged edge that the skin would get fucked up on.
soak in epsom salts, that will dehydrate the wound and kill some of the bacteria. but the water has to be as hot as you can stand. I ended up getting burns from the damn water.
if there is puss in wound, then heat something sharp in a flame and then poke it and drain the puss.
then the painful part:
take a clean blade (heat it) and lift up the nail out of the wound - don't cut it because it will just grow back in later. instead put a small bit of gauze under the edge of the nail - you will likely have to take that out and put a new clean section in every morning.
in the future, cut your nails so that the outer edges are longer than the inside part - so it looks like a "V" - for some reason that helps according to the doc.
I was on a camping trip when I had mine fixed - hence the burning in flames to sterilize and stuff.
so I got to see how one would do a home remedy.
as for local pain killers - there is a spray of Americaine (spp?) that is sold OTC.

LOL. i cant tell you how many cotton balls i went thru as a teenager. both of my big toes were fucked up on both sides of each of them.
p.s. when them things got all puss filled, them damn cotton balls would sting like hell. that was some disgusting shit. its amazing what some of us will do instead of just going to the doctor.
