Raisins??

any thoughts on raisins? 1 cup is about 100g carbs, plus has fiber as well. im bulking, but not on the "see food" bulk. Any thoughts on snacking on a cup full throughout the day???? adds about 400cals. might help to change things up etc. thoughts?

Raisins are a great source of fiber, Iron and Antioxidants. Like nuts tho, they are calorie dense.
A while back one morn at work I sat there and downed prolly 3-4 cups of raisins ( I was stressed) and I was "Seeing them again" by about 4-5PM that same day. There really good for the digestive tract.

They are an awful carb source, for THEY ARE FRUCTOSE. Raisins are GRAPES. Frucotes, especially at times when your glucose intake is high, will be stored as bodyfat because of the liver full glycogen. Most glycose is stored as liver GL, so at times of liver fullness, most of the fructose will bypass the liver and head for fat-stores. FRUCTOSE=EVIL

actually, grapes and grape juices have nearly highest glucose to fructose amounts (higher glucose than fructose compared to almost all fruits). The glucose is actually maltodextrine. Raisins are high in it, and it could be beneficial to send more protein to your muscles, being the highest on the Glycemic Index. Peace.

What are you talking about? Fruits are mostly FRUCTOSE...period... Hence the name FRUIT.

Any fructose is going to be a negative when it comes to body-fat loss, even for muscle gains.

Grapes have a higher maltodextrine to fructose ratio than any other fruit. Don't believe me? Research it for yourself. Why do you think medications are taken with grape juice to increase bioavailability? Because grape juice shuttles it to the body quickly because of its high maltodextrine content.

First, you need a little more research my young friend. Which should be done before making blanket statments.

Red Grapes (RG) - most widely used for raisings- are not what you think they are. RG proves to have an inhibitory effects in term of digestion (highly proved in the field of IRON study) that is likely due to high levels of polyphenolic compounds that bind and thereby prevent absorption of soluble Fe. (Fe uptake inhibitors (e.g., polyphenolic compounds)).

Here is my science: *(citation)
Red grape juice inhibits iron availability: application of an in vitro digestion/caco-2 cell model.

The only way grapes do anything is when they enhances platelet and endothelial production of nitric oxide, which improves endothelial function to a small degree. NOTHING BIG!

Now, another statement of yours:
-maltodextrin is MADE from natural corn starch

What's your science behind saying grapes contain maltodextrin? YOu must be joking....
Grapes contain some glucose polymers and the rest is fructose. 90/10.

Maltodextrine DOES NOT SHUTTLE MEDICATION INTO THE BODY!
WHERE do you get this ludicrous information, you must read too much FLEX or muscle mag. INSULINE shuttles nutrients into cells/etc. NOT the MALTODEXTRINE. Do you research, and if you post back it up w/ SCIENCE.

Merry Christmas!
