radiator question

does my vehicle have to be turned on to put antifreeze or water in it??
my danged hose got a hole in it yesterday and squirted everywhere, got it fixed, but now i need water in it

don't pop the cap with the engine hot, it will spew out all over your pretty face.

always check it with the engine cold.....running or not.

it's better to add a mixutre of half water and half antifreeze, espically for your area.

Yeah definatly not while its even warm. I have seen people get burned bad from that.....Be careful...

Use a 50/50 mix to prevent boil over and rust from ruining expensive parts.

Fill it cold and run it for a while.

Let it cool and fill it again.


The thermostat will have opened and will allow several more quarts of anti-freeze/water solution to be added the second time.

crank the car up cold, turn heater on high let run while filling, when car reaches operating temp the thermostat will open this will pull some water and antifreeze into th engine block, keep filling till full, run car and recheck later when it cools down.

SO i cant put water/antifreeze in it while its not running? i know the friend that put it in for me yesterday was pouring water in and he said oh shit, go start ur van and he told me not to put it in without the motor running

the engine needs to be running to circulate coolant. it will not get full its not running.
