Rach's Need2Slin and Training Log

I feel like it's Christmas - 2 Bottles of Gear and a Bottle of Need2Slin sitting right here on the table by me. Everything timing-wise is coming together great - second workout with trainer tonight also. So, here's my plan; please advise me guys of anything you think may be more beneficial. The Slin 4X a day is where I'm going to start, as it seems to be working well for others. 30 mins or so before consuming at least 20gs of carbs with meal, and #4 before bed. I am a little more uncertain about the most beneficial times to take the Gear - maybe 2 pre/post workout and as a supplement as needed with meals depending....Please pipe in if you'd like.

Alright - so today about 111 at the gym this morning 16-17% BF apx. My training is a little tricky -
Sunday 1 hour spin class
Monday OFF
Tuesday Teach 1/2 hr spin and 1/2 hr Body Pump at 6am. Train with Ann Marie at 5:30pm
Wednesday 1 hr Body Pump at 6:30pm
Thursday Same as Tuesday
Friday OFF
Saturday 2 hours of Body Pump in am.

After my workout tonight Ann Marie forbid me from doing any other working out aside from with her the 2 days a week and teaching my classes - which I am to go on the light side with weight. Excess cardio forbidden.

Workout tonight, was tough - but good, and a little different my normal workouts, which obviously is going to be to my benefit.

Reps X 15 no break:
Deadlifts w/30lb bar
Squats w/bar
Lunges (I call them static lunges - she call them... V squats?) w/bar
Forgive me on my explanation on the next couple:
Dumbbell rows in plank position on toes
Right into side plank w/shoulder press (w/dumbbells)
Pushups
Squat thrusts w/dumbbells
40 crunches of some sort
Jump rope X 100 (didn't skip a beat, didn't 'F up even once - haven't jumped rope in years)

Okay then same thing, reps X 12 - instead of rope, had to do the rowing machine for 300 Meters

Then everything again, reps X 10 - but ran 1/2 mile at 8miles an hour instead of rowing

Then she stretched me out - extra attention to my hips. I have problems with hips - broke my right one a few years ago.

Diet today -
1/2 cup kashi go lean w/ spash of milk
protein shake after gym
some almonds around 10:30ish when I was hungry
wrap w chicken and lettuce (no dressing, cheese or anything else - the wrap has 20g carbs, 9g protein, 12g fiber)
some sunflower seeds and raisins around 4ish
just had another wrap - but super loaded up with chicken - and some Gear

Took my first slin about 6am today - ate Ezekiel 4:9 around 6:30....

Guys!!! I'm so freakin excited right now. I had to go to one of my gyms at lunch today because I forgot my nike's there. The fitness director was there and I had him check my bf with calipers - for a 7 pt I'm at 14.3, the 4 pt was 13.8 - and his handheld was 14.6. So - the pics I posted were just over 2 wks ago. The original caliper test I had done at 17.3 was about 3 weeks ago. Since that time I've locked in my diet and have been more consistent with my training. I know the numbers shouldn't matter, but I can't help it. I'm so pumped.

Oh - PS. Gear and Slin are sitting well.
 
Awesome thread girl I agree you have a little fat you need to lose but more need to add some good quality muscle to be competative in figure. Very excited for you.
 
Tonight at the gym -
All with 40lb bar:
wide leg/close grip deadlifts x 10
sumos x 10
prone row x 10
underhand row x 10
bicep curls x 10
squat thrusts x 10

pushups x 10
ab press x 20
cardio 2 minutes

This was done 4 times...

It felt okay, I felt strong enough. Another headache later in the day for the 3rd day in a row... feeling like I look bloated? In my head? I don't know.... Maybe I should cut back some carbs?
But why am I crashing with the headache? Any thoughts guys?
 
dehydration perhaps? go for a small amt of a complex carb and see if the headache eases up?

Thanks Shirlene - yeah I'm thinking probably a combination of lots of stuff - need more fluids, maybe more carbs? Yesterday and today it hurt around 3:30 - was crabby when I got to the gym; and normally would go with her on Tues, but getting pictures done tomorrow night, so had to go and work with her "group" training - apparently just 2 of her normal 4 were there - stupid women that just bitch and complain and do pushups on their knees. I hate it when people do pushups on their knees!!!! I was done with round 4 while they were starting round 3. I tend to recover quickly and I'm just there to get shit done. Anyway. hm, I'm crabby again.
 
lolololololol@ knee pushups...someone should try to get them to do countertop pushups if they cant do regular pushups


crabbiness/headaches...could be low sugar, could be dehydrations, maybe like you said...a combo
me (and I suck with cutting bf these days) I probably have a small class of chocolate milk to see if my headache went away after trying some water first
 
And again i ask you! What is your carb intake by meal? And you will need tons of fluids! I'm always here girl, not as big on this site but you know were i'm at! My log is here also! Keep me in da loop girl!

I almost never get headaches, but when I do it is usually from stress. Are you maybe a teeny bit more stressed than usual?
I take two aspirin, and it usually helps. I try to breathe better too, to relax my neck and shoulder muscles which get super tight and cause tension.
Good job on the buliding of muscle, i am quite sure you will reach your goals because it sounds like you have a lot of self discipline.
 
I've been itching to get on here and tell you guys about my day.

Let's start with work - and I'll call it a very intense day. Got a press release published with a big publication, but also had a "talking to" from my CEO, had to work on Board Reports due at 5pm, etc... I did a lot of sweating

Fastforward... finally got to the gym about 5:45. I wanted to tan, hit a couple weights, and then I had to teach at 6:30 (Body Pump). I was just itching to get lifting, I needed it so badly to get rid of today. I was in the tanning booth (standup), and I literally had to get out before the time, I couldn't stand it anymore, I wanted to lift so so bad that I was starting to hyperventilate - literally crawling out of my skin. So I decided the quick complex I was going to try and do before class - hopped up first to chin-ups AND THEN BAM!, did a nice quick 8 unassisted; this has been very weak for me lately, only been getting to 6. Then I did assisted pull-ups with only 30lbs of help instead of 50 - and on and on... felt good. Taught my Pump class - forced myself to actually go heavier on Chest and Biceps that I ever have before (this is always a gamble when increasing weight in Pump - I need to be able to finish the whole track without dying/quitting etc.)

For being in such a crappy mood when I left work - I was flying high on endorphins on my drive home from work. Just felt GOOD.

Oh yeah - I'm up about 1 1/2 to 2lbs. It is not my diet - as far as I'm not eating too much. I haven't been cheating, I've been consistent. I can tell I look stronger, but still seeing the bloat around my belly area. I'm just about into starting week 2 - is this and when going to go away?

Tomorrow I workout with AM!
 
okay guys - worked with AM tonight -
First I ran two miles in about 15 minutes. I was feeling good - so I ran fast

Did sets of 15, 12, 10, then 8 - abs and cardio in between each set different each time
This is what we (I) did: (I don't know the weight of the ball - maybe 8?)
-squats/jump thingy with medicine ball (squat then jump high - landing w/soft knees? - what do you call that? some sort of plyo squat)
-squat thrusts
-V squats (lunges) holding medicine ball in one arm out front each side
-Lat rows in plan position w/15's
-side plank (on hand not elbow) w/ shoulder press - 15lbs again
-pushups

-abs round 1: reverse curl w/vertical thrusts at the top x 30
-abs round 2: full center crunch x 15/ obliques each side x 15
-abs round 3: stability ball held in between legs (straight not bent) reverse curls x 30
-abs round 4: I can't even freakin remember now

-cardio round 1: airdyne all out for .2 miles (takes to about a slow count of 40)
-cardio round 2: jump rope x 130
-cardio round 3: rowing machine for 250meters
-cardio round 4: Ran 1/4 mile on treadmill at 10mph (yes, that's right, 10mph)

I then somehow managed to put some jeans on and walk to my jeep - and then threw up outside of my jeep x 2 in the rain. Then sat in the jeep with my head on the steering wheel for about 5 minutes until I didn't feel dizzy anymore.

She wants me down to 50-60 carbs daily? Before noon. This scares the shit out of me. That's not much. Also, been holding steady about 100g of protein daily. She wants me at 150.

I am having a really really hard time recovering right now. Really shaky, really anxious. I ate a banana in the car and just ate a protein shake, and I know I need to a) eat more, and b) shower and get out of these wet clothes (it's raining cats and dogs) - but c) I can't get up

I'm actually trying to gain muscle, while maintaining bf. kinda not fun sometimes.

im no expert in women's training but if your trying to gain muscle and your no longer trying to cut down bodyfat why dont you stray away from the ciruit workouts and do some straight sets of compound exercises?

Thanks - and actually I was wondering why AM had me doing more circuit workouts Tues and Thurs; I will ask her about it this Tuesday.

wow what do you know. Your trainer has 1000000000000000 times the amount of (muscle) as you do. Gee maybe you should focus on making muscle?
 
Today is final day in San Diego - unfortunately did not make it to the gym yesterday, but killed it on Friday. I'm not sure where my weight is sitting, diet hasn't been right on since I'm not at home, but still not that bad. I really HATED taking yesterday off, but I'm sure I needed an extra one since I don't typically get much time off. Friday I did some shoulders, back, abs and some intense cardio (10+mph on treadmill for 1/2 mile) between sets of 15, 12, 10, 8. Today i'm going to do arms and chest. It is so strange trying to get geared up though to go into a gym I'm not used to and get my groove. The 24 hr fitness we went to is quite a bit bigger than the gyms I work for at home. I've still been taking Slin and Gear, though I've missed a dose here or there :*( Really looking forward to getting back on schedule - especially since I want to bench the shit out of that bar for that weir contest/race I'm doing next weekend. This morning had my starbucks, 1 Need2Slin, and Ezekial. I need to get in some protein and kill it. There's no way I'll be able to do the gym tomorrow night (though Monday is my normal night off) because I won't be back to MI until 7pmish - and then I hit it hard Tues -Thurs; by Thursday night I'm dying because I teach Tues morning, then work with trainer Tues night, then teach Wed night and then teach Thurs morning, and then trainer Thurs night....

When I get home, Tim should be back from Australia and going to realign schedules so I can get some new pics done (not n00ds! - but maybe close? we'll see what he has in mind).
 
Is the trainer going to help you out with posing? Do you have a set show date in mind or adding some muscle first then figuring it out. You for sure have a nice lean base to build on like 10ish pounds of lean muscle in the right places you will look outstanding.

Thanks! I don't have a date set yet - there are several coming up in Michigan through summer - fall. There is also one in May but obviously wouldn't be ready for that. I'd like to see how I can do here the next couple months prior to picking an actual show. As for posing - I don't know I guess. Once I get closer I'll figure it out...

Ugh, and I weighed in at 115 today :*( Need to be 112 on Saturday for that bench press/run thing.

why do you need to be 112? how tall are you chica?

and agreed with QT, i think you'll look great with an added 10-15 pounds of muscle.

Flying will cause you to hold water take dadelion root when you get home don't have any sodium.
 
Ebony - I'm doing a funny race/bench press competition on Saturday. I need to bench as many reps at 60% of my body weight, and for every rep I do, it will take off 30seconds from my 5k time. If I weight above 112, then I'm going to have to bump up to pushing 70lbs instead of 65. I have been holding steady around 111 - 112, so I'm not trying to cut for it, just weighing a little heavy from as SuperQT says - travelling, and my diet is off a bit from being here.

I don't know where to start - strength wise I'm feeling amazing, definite increase in upper body strenth, fuller shoulders, quads are looking AWESOME. I just feel good. Pullups are something that I told myself I was going to work on (well working on my back in general), and I was always kind of afraid of them. I started with assisted pull-ups, 50lbs and could do a few sets of 12 repts. Tonight, on the assisted I only had 25lbs and easily did 12.

I'm feeling a little like a freak! Weight is not going down, if at all, going up - but I don't think it's an increase in BF, muscle for sure. Also been doing HIIT with running, and I'm so freakin fast right now it's incredible.

Thanks! That has been a focus lately. :)

Delt caps are key to figure. Next time you train lats with her ask her for some pointers on how to flair your lats this will help with posing for you to start to get the feel for it so it becomes easy for you to do.
 
Thanks! I'm up a couple pounds - and cinched my belt to a hole that has never been used before, so I'm thinking things are going the right way. :)
