R.I.P. Paul Newman

Just a cool guy who made classic movies. Hard to ever find someone to say something bad about the guy.

He was smiling... That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker.

good night, cool hand :(

A great actor, and even greater human being.

'Shameless exploitation' was how he described his strategy for making money for his charities.

I remember watching slapshot as a kid and thought wow.... this guy was doin his thing in the 70's.
best scene from that movie is when the guy is taking the giant demo hammer to the side of the bus!!!!!
"hey, what are you doing to the bus?"
"I'm making it look mean!"

50 years of marriage

He sometimes teamed with his wife and fellow Oscar winner, Joanne Woodward, with whom he had one of Hollywood's rare long-term marriages.

"I have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?" Newman told Playboy magazine when asked if he was tempted to stray.

Wow... Too little integrity left in the world. Now there is a little less.
PN was truly "a man's man", esp in a line of work where backstabbing, lying, vanity and plilandering was/is a way of life.

his "buddy" movies with redford are under-appreciated today.

after my father read the "steak" quote he shamlessly stole it and used it every chance he could; much to my mother's embarrassed pleasure. :luxlove:  :artist:
