its sad to see the status of this once great board. when i first started coming here, you would see alot of knowledgable bros sharing experiences, feedback and information. there was hardly any "flame wars" and the "newbies" were always welcomed. oh well, all boards go downhill eventually
Its just my observation but when I lurked here it seemd as if newbies were often flamed and quite frequently pissing matches and insults flew between the vets. It does seem as if informative posts have dwindled but overall I would say there is less "clutter'. Thats just my perception though and I think ones perception of the board changes as we become used to it and learn more.

It was a joke -- much like this entire thread. I get shit on, and I'm to blame. Come on. That's funny!

I understand full well what's going on here. Some people resent the fact that I profit from being here. I'm not the only one. But I never go on a thread to promote myself. Still, some people have a stick up their ass about it.

Nobody is forcing anybody else to buy what they don't want. Grow up. You don't like my threads, don't read them and stop acting like a bunch of snot nosed kids. DRR likes some of my threads but feels entitled to call me names when he disagress with me? Fuck that. Anyone who does that is an asshole. Plain and simple. Don't give me a bunch of bullshit that I'm supposed to just shut up and be a target. If I choose to respond, I will. That was the point of my story. Some people just want to be bullies and I hate bullies.

If EFSam or Zyg were really interested in doing something about this, DRR and Daddy X would have been banned for flagrently violating the code of ethics . Period. They weren't. So this entire thread was a waste of time and energy. A bunch of talk that meant nothing.

Next....

there you go running your mouth once again NELSON, i've NEVER called you a name on this thread, go back and re read it, i said maybe we should ignore you, but what direct insult or name calling have i done? quote one direct insult for me bro....go ahead, i dare ya? oh what, feel threatened, wanna beat me up in the bathroom after class???

that probably made your blood boil didn't it...I haven't called you names, i've "called you out" on some thing, but i haven't called you names. What "code of ethics" did i violate? what did i do wrong? go ahead, post it up there, or are you just gonna run your mouth and not back up any of your words like usual.......and thats not name calling, thats stating how you really are....ask any mod here, they and all the regualrs know how you are, its NOT news bro.

Hell nelson, you are the only one on this entire thread that has done any name calling, im an "asshole" as you put it in your last thread....are you in a state of denial or what bro?

Regardless, this board is by far the best source of information and has the most knowledgeable Vets and Mods out of any board out there. Of course there will be more flame fests and heated discussions since the member base at EF is 5-10x the member base of any other board. With as many people that frequent this site on a daily basis there always going to be some sort of controversay going on. That's even how this site is advertised,"The Most controversial Fitness Site on the Net". It's on the homepage for Christ's sake! When I think of "controversial" I think of heated discussions and I think that's what draws people here whether they will admit it or not.

This is where Nelson brings a lot of value to the site. If you go back and read the threads that he has started or threads that have Nelson's name or one of his "controversial" theories in the title they average over 100 posts. I think it was a brilliant idea to market the site like this and it obviously has worked.

Unfortunatly I do not have the inclination to read through 90% BS flames to get to the 10% info in those threads. Even though they have a high view count and reply count its largely the same people tossing insults. Often times there is some good debat in them but when the flames outweigh the thread they usually get trashed, which is a shame. EF is about sharing knowledge and ideas and it sucks that we have to wade through insults to find it.

ill tell you one thing. zyg is a mod that seems to really explain things and not try to come across as 'holier than thou' because he is a moderator. like the thread about going platinum several months ago when he calmly explained his (EF's) position on every question that was asked. im confident that this problem will be dealt with and by someone with a level head.

I see your point but the way the site is positioned and advertised it gives people the impression that heated discussions take place here and are encouraged. I have to assume that in part EF Administration indirectly encourages this to some degree.

The term "heated" is of course open to perception, whats heated to me may not be to you etc. I guess I would prefere the term "passionate" to heated :). Heated, to me seems to be more indicative of flames etc. There have been some awesome debates on various issues often having more than one passionate response for, against or even for a new twist on a given idea. Since everything here is in black and white, it can be a bit hard for the reader to hear vocal inflections and see body language which makes message forums of all kinds a bit more hostile than perhaps a face to face discussion. Simply put I think we need to assume that unless someone directly comes out and calls someone a fuckstick that their comments are meant as constructive. There have been many posts in this thread which where insulting by insinuation. In other words they were not an outright, direct name calling but carried the "tone" of an insult without actually name calling. Its this grey area we all need to learn to be a bit more tolerent of. Anyway, "passionate debates" are encouraged here of course, they often trigger research or even simply help to expand someone elses perception. We just need to keep the insults, direct or otherwise to a minimum, and we will all benefit.
