Question from my boss

apparantly since I know how to put a header and a footer on a document everybody thinks I know a lot about computers in my office

my boss is complaining to me that his secretary isn't following up with him on things and she just writes everything down in a little notebook and then forgets about it.

( I know.. get a new secretary!) but other than that...

he asked me if there is anything he can put on the computer where it can be like an online bulletin board where if he asks her to do something she can type it in and he can just login and see what she was supposed to do and make it keep appointments and calls to make and times

He wants to be all online and web based.

Is there something simpler to load than a full bulletin board system on our company server? any programs you tech geniuses can think of? or is installing and loading a bulletin board like this one a pretty simple thing to do? if you know any costs involved with the above scenarios as well they would be greatly appreciated. and Dancing Karma Man will be handing out cookies for answers :)

I just realized the title of this thread is TERRIBLE and a lot of tech people probably won't open it, shit. if a mod can rename it to something better please do!

but anyway, he also said if there is something already online he can just 'subscribe to' and pay a monthly fee for a few months till he figures it out, that would be ideal as well.

thanks again

Do you guys run MS Exchange server? Lots of collaborative tools like task lists and calendars to do what you want.

he needs it to be web based so he can login to it from home and from his laptop, I think we are upgrading to MS Exchange server soon but don't exactly know what we have now.. he stressed the web based part so he can login from wherever

It also sounds like your boss isn't too tech savvy....

he's not, he's a real estate genius he just wants the tech to make his life easier he doesn't need to understand it believe me lol I don't expect him to

Who handles IT for your office - they could setup Exchange to utilize the web interface - within that you could have him use the task lists setup within Outlook/Web Outlook to keep track of what the sec. is supposed to be doing.

OWA Outlook Web Access

OWA must be enabled on the Server side but give most of the same
tools that you would have on your Outlook mail client on the desktop..

all great ideas but would require us calling the IT company to enable server stuff.. I am going to recommend him the outlook web access cause I saw it and it is awesome.. but he wants a quick solution for now

this is sorta what I was talking about
http://www.greathill.com/calendar.htm

I think that'll work just to get him a web calender up and running.

thanks you guys in the morning you will all be seeing green
