Question for those who know

So I'm talking with my friend last night on the phone. He lives in California and I'm in the midwest.

He tells me he went on this interview for a new job. He told me he wore his best black suit.

Now, I'm not the fashion police or anything by a long shot, but, I was under the impression that you don't wear black to interviews, weddings or to see clients as the color depicts "death".

He tells me BS, he wears it all of the time.

Can anyone tell me who is right or is it just a matter of opinion that only the fashion police can solve?

I guess the rule for weddings is unless you're in the wedding party then no black.

I usually wear a grey pinstripe to big meetings and/or interviews. White shirt with a pink, orange, or purple tie.

YES, it's totally acceptable. There are no rules to for job interviews really anymore. VP's in fortune 500 co's don't even wear suits anymore. They were chinos and golf shirt.
By the way, if I ever caught my b/f wearing chinos, he's going DOWN!

I have no idea because I don't interview. VP'S wearing that = L-A-M-E.

Again, i'm no fashion police, I'm lucky to get the right shoe on the right foot most days.

Not supposed to wear black? You kidding me??

You are supposed to dress conservatively for the most part. Conservative includes black, navy blue, and white.
But in the end, know who you are interviewing with!!!
