Scots man and I are doing our first strongman comp in one week, the New Mexico's strongest man. Any last minute advice as we get closer to it? and what should we try and eat the morning of? any help would be great, thanks.
All week I eat as much as humanly possible and drink a liter of pedialyte every day. The day before I try to eat A LOT of carbs and very little sodium. The sodium will cause you to hold water which is a VERY bad thing if there is any type of grip event in the contest.
The morning of I always eat 2-3 large bowls of oatmeal covered in lots of honey, glass of OJ, and whatever else I can eat. I also chew on glucose tabs through the day...even when I do not feel down or hungry.
Make sure you get the big breakfast in 2 hours before the contest starts...and start hitting the fruit, gatorade, pedialyte, and glucose from there. Nothing heavy too close to contest time.
