question about squats

the more weight i squat, the more my back cracks. anyone experience this problem? does it sound hazardous? maybe normal? also, at what point do you feel it's necessary to use a belt?

it usually cracks the next day, never while im squatting. it cracks between my shoulders and a little lower at times. as for my form, im pretty sure it's on. i've had other people watch to tell me if i was doing everything right, and i'm told that my form is good. i have not seen a chiropractor. i should, but im broke. i push my back against things to make it crack, and that makes it feel better for a short while.

probably just your muscles relaxing a bit and letting your back pop after the compressive weight of the night before. Im no expert, but my back and body always pops more after a good wokout the day before.

So long as you're not suffering I'd say keep doing what you're doing. I've been doing mine for years and it does help to take tension out of your spine. What it probably means is that you don't do enough stretching after your workouts. Ensure that you at least do some hamstring stetches. Maybe you should see whether you need a better mattress, too.

Be very careful about cracking in the sacro-illiac joint area. If you put that out then you'll be needing a chiropractor or osteopath to put it back again.

Have you had someone walk down your spine. That can be very pleasant and should result in some good popping. Don't let them walk too much onto your lower back, though, as that can be bad.

You guys need to quick telling this guy to self crack his back.

I did that for a long time and it only temporarily made it feel better. Eventually I had to crack it like once an hour. That ain't cool.

The problem with self cracking your back is that you don't know exactly what you're doing and whether or not the area you think you are helping is even the real culprit to your back woes.

Go see a chiropractor and start getting an adjustment once every 2 weeks or a month. You can probably afford that. Like 35-45 bucks depending on the chiro. If he asks you to do x-rays then tell him you don;t have the money for them and he can do a basic exam on you without the x-rays. If he refuses then go to another chiropractor. A good chiro will work with you, not against you or force you to do what you don't want to do.

I know longer have to crack my back all the time. He does the cracking and does a much better job LOL.
