Question about BO and pheromones

Now I know that supposedly in animals pheromones have a huge impact, but in humans much less so since our brain does a lot to mediate the effects of responses to chemical signals like that.

Now it seems to make sense that if we are frequently showering it would tend to wash away the phermones, and what might build up could get covered by perfumes and deordorants.

I've noticed that when I'm pretty horny, and I already think a particular dude is hot, slight BO on a guy can be a turn me on even more. A lot of qualificatons here though: I have to already be into the dude, and his odor has to be slight. If he's perpetrating uber funk, forget it...take a shower bitch. I dont get that effect at all from women though. Maybe the socialization to expect to women to always be oder free is stronger than the phermone influence. Dont know, just speculating here.

Queston for you peeps, have you ever noticed the same effect?

weigh in here, ese. You're a literate dude.

Don't overestimate me, chica.

I have never had this occur with me, no. Not sure the science behind it (cue Samote), but there is a certain animalistic, back to nature sort of thing that seems to be evident in a lot of people in these situations. Perhaps you managed to cut through the social clutter of materialism and advertising and temporarily tapped into your true person.

God I love a woman's skin.

I discount the pheromone influence in humans greatly. While it is true in animals, I do not think it is significant in humans, simply because our nose lacks the heightened state and ability to distinguish odors that animals possess. All the perfume in the world won't cover up a chemical that is being released. Especially to an animals nose that can pick apart smells with pin point precision.

Yeah homie I agree with your assessment. I think we've got a highly developed forebrain that mediates most all of the influence of pheromones. In my illustration I'm thinking it takes several pre-existing conditions (arousal, minor body odor, right time and place, etc) for the pheromones to have any effect.

What I'm thinking is the pheromones perhaps dont have much effect on us anyway because of our brains and our human socialization, so perhaps it takes more of it to have an effect, and even then only under the right conditions.

Or maybe I just like smelly dudes.

or you just like manly dudes vs girly smelling ones.

I prefer a neutral or slightly clean smelling woman vs one loaded with smell either way.
