question about bench form for powerlifting

I just watched the video over at the asylum for the bench. I have always done it the iso. style/form. I want to start using the powerlifting style/form. Is that always how you do it, or when you train do you keep a flat back and no leg drive, but keep everything tucked in?? and how wide a grip should i use. normally its index on the ring for me being 6'3 and all? thx

It's a much safer position to be in if you arch and use leg drive because it stabilizes you upperbody and holds it tight. Rotator cuff injuries are fewer and further between when you don't use the isolation form. If you want to move alot more weight you'll have more potential with the powerlifting style. Although it will probably be less at first, I know mine went down alot when I first switched, but all around it is a better form.

i bench the same way in the gym as in a meet. meaning leg drive, and i have a little arch. in training i use three different grips, close, mid, and wide. when im about 8 weeks out ill start using my meet grip on max effort bench days. but everything else for the most part is close grip.

so your saying always arch the back and use some leg drive?

im doing 3x6, and honestly dont need to use it at the weight im moving right now. I could see if im doing triples or doubles, but for 6 reps, not to sure?
