Question about a possible abscess...

I shot 1cc Winny into my tricep a few days ago (my first tricep shot) and now it's still a bit sore and the skin is red for about 2.5 square inches around the injection site. Furthermore, the injection site is still somewhat swollen. Is this the beginning of an abscess? If so, how should I treat it?

It may be too early to tell. If it is indeed, the signs will only get more noticeable. Have you ran a high fever, or shown any signs of sickness? Is it warm to the touch?

As far as I can tell, it is not warm to the touch. Furthermore, I don't feel sick, nor do I have a high fever. I used sterile injection procedures and have shot from this bottle many times before. I think I may have shot from too short a needle. It was a 1/2" insulin pin.

Exactly what I posted about yesterday on tridea, I thought it was an abcsess but it is now going away, give it a day or two, if you have any antibiotics give them a try.

I will never shoot in tris again both times I have done it it has felt real strange, no problems with almost 100 injections in the past with other body parts.

ORCA

Warm to the touch and soreness/swekking could be signs of an abcess. If it's not warm to the touch it prob is not an abcess. If you are concerned, take antibiotics just in case and treat it with a hot/warm moist compress.

Be careful - if it turns out to be an abcess and you wait to long the doctor might have to cut it out.

It may just be a hematome. Is it any better? I know that when I had an infection, it became really noticeable in the shower, as the warm water would hit both shoulders, the one infected became very red in comparison to the other one. Good luck

Thanks for the feedback bros. It seems to be a bit less red today, also less sore and swollen. I hope I'm in the clear. That's the last tricep shot for me!

you will know when you have an abcess trust me on that one...you will be in so much pain you wont be able to move your arm, it will be warm to hot to the touch along with more swelling..
