He is doing it to be a hateful, inciting dipshit, but it is within his right to burn it. As much as I hate his reasons for doing it, to let someone else dissuade via threat of violence is all the more reason to let him do it. If he's not directly harming or intimidating anyone, then let him have his hateful little fire. Just like the people across the road have the right to stand there and admonish him for doing it. But not doing free speech for fear of violence? That's when we're truly fucked.

I found it quite funny while reading a news article about this yesterday. The PASTOR that is setting an event had the damn nerve to state that "It is the devil" also has mugs and tshirts with sayings like that on them.
EXCUSE ME, I may not agree with the Qua'ran or with other religions. However, one thing I do know is that being a Christian (which I am assuming he is due to PASTOR) than you are to live a Christ like life. A sin is a sin regardless of whether it is a swear or adultery..Get what I am saying?? One sin is no different than the next, they are in no different class of their own and not one is better than the next. Therefor casting judgment upon another religion shall be a sin..Nice PASTOR that the church has, I wouldn't want to be led by a man like that. It might be religious literature but there's something thuggish, anti-intellectual & generally abhorrent / ignorant about destroying the printed word as even if it is a catalogue of documented fantasy it's part of humanity's written history & "proof" of a period of moral evolution we're currently undertaking.
While he has the "right" to burn religious texts etc., rights afforded to him by his host nation & by the blood of millions of American armed forces men & women over the last 200 plus years, much like Petraeus I'd condemn the action as well (not that anyone in the grand scheme of things gives a fuck what I condemn & condone, but that's my 2 pence).
Remember condemnation isn't actually oppressing anyone's freedom by demanding it not to happen, he just doesn't agree with it.

He told the AP that crosses were broken, damage was done to a statue of Jesus, and at the Rosary Sister School and nearby convent, prayer books were burned.
Gunmen used the roof of the school during the fighting, and the convent was "desecrated," Mussalem told the AP.
"Nothing happens by mistake these days," he said.
Father Musalam additionally told The Jerusalem Post that the Muslim gunmen used rocket-propeled grenades (RPGs) to blow through the doors of the church and school, before burning Bibles and destroying every cross they could get their hands on.

I find it amusing the "politically correct" defend one constitutional right, the religious freedom of Muslims, are more than happy to advocate the quashing of another constitutional right, freedom of speech. I watch MSNBC in the mornings and it was entertaining to watch Pat Buchanan advocate the arrest and imprisonment of an insignificant Pastor exercising his freedom of speech, something that many on the left would support, something Woodrow Wilson ( a Dem pres)did back in the day.

i support people's right to protest/demonstrate/what-have-you...but, this one is obviously going to cause backlash...it's real easy to pull some shit like burning a religious document from the relative safety of hometown u.s.a. so, before you do it, how about asking the marine corps what they think?? since they're the ones that are gonna have to cash the check after you write it.
