pwr_machine and bigguns15's visit

cheesecake

New member
They came up to train with us this weekend. We trained hard, we ate hard, we slept hard, and we busted our butts doing strongman events today.

It was a blast hanging with you guys once again. I think pwr_machine said it best when he asked, "Why do all the people that want to train hard have to live so far away?"

We wish that you guys lived closer so that we could get together more often.

I have tons of videos, as I'm sure that they do too, to edit, upload, and post. I'll post them as I have time.

Again, thanks for another great weekend guys.

Details???

PR's???

Videos are uploading. I'll post them tomorrow (actually later today). :lmao:

I will share one of my best PRs now because we didn't get it on video. In early July I tried to do some deadlift farmers holds with 145lb in each hand. I tried twice and couldn't even pick them up.

Yesterday, I took 145lb in each hand and went about 160 feet (I think) with them. Big time PR.

AWESOME!!!!!

yeah it was a totally awsome experience, just another great weekend and some new members i include in my family now. Bigguns and pwr_mach are class act people, with a warm smile, great personality, incredible strengths, and a great sense of humor.

well.................. what can i say, I WON THE SQUAT OFF!!!!!!

hit a big time pr's here's how they went.

Saturday - Gym training, ME Lower:

Parallel Box SQuat - 430lb with no equipment!!! 40lb PR!!. i tried to let pwr_mach wrap my legs (dont ever let him do that, it hurts so bad) and tried 475, but the knee wraps wanted me to go further than the box, so i didnt get any help from them, but i want to try them again full rom squatting.

Rack Dead from just below knee - 455 x 3. 50lb PR!!!! this was heavy, and i was thankful cheesecake's gym owner wasnt there and i could use chalk!!! lol

that was it for the gym day.

Sunday - Events.

Log clean and press - 195 lbs for 11 reps. Big PR!!! never went for reps with that much weight. time limit was 75 seconds.

next conans walk using the log: 315lbs for 5 feet....lol, i was trying to show off, lol. 265 for about 40 feet (no rest inbetween the two)

Medley - 48 seconds!!! felt good to finally finnish one...lol clean and press 135 and walk for 50 feet. run back. 600lb tire for 3 flips. run back 145lb duck walk for 50 feet. run back bearhug 155lb log and carry for 50 feet. pass out.............lol

played around with the medicine ball i threw the furtherest with my right arm. 10 lb medicine ball for 36 feet.

farmers - 145lbs each arm for 160 feet with 1 turn. nothing big, but i was spent at this point.

well, i got to go to work now, i'll post up more later.

We had such a great time! I just wish our weekend could have been longer. Thanks Cheesecake and Puttinbuttin for all you hospitality and for being such great people! We also got to meet Exodus and Trinity, who were a blast as well. Exodus took the time to show us how to do each of the events. I was so impressed with all the aspects of strongman.

For PRs, I set a good one on Saturday on squat, taking 410 for a ride. It was sweet! It always helps to have motivating people around you, which is exactly what I had :)

For events, I did

Log Press 115 x 11 in 75 seconds

Medly, 25 feet for the events, then a sprint back
Overhead Walk 95
Tire flip 400 lb tire for 3 flips
Duckwalk with one farmer in front 75
Log bear hug 130

We took somewhat of a break and did some medicine ball tosses to see who could throw it the farthest. Good thing we didn't get this on video, because we looked kinda retarded :D

Farmer's Walk
145 each hand, 80 feet. I surprised myself on this one! I didn't think I could go that heavy!
I tried again after everybody was through, and made it another 80 feet, but only after dropping it twice. Exodus said that in strongman contests, respect is earned not by being the strongest, but by never giving up and always giving your all.

I can't thank these guys and gals enough. I left being more motivated than ever! I would even like to try a strongman competition one of these days, just for fun. It was such a blast this weekend! I too have a ton of videos to put up, but I'll have to do those later.

The weekend was great! On Saturday, while everyone was setting PR's, I decided to grab a few sets on bench while the others were warming up in anticipation of moving some heavy weight. I hadn't benched in a few weeks because my shoulders have been bugging me. I did 315 for a set of 5 and a few sets of db bench presses and called it quits. Everything felt good, but I needed to save some energy to wrap Bigguns15's knees. :D

Everyone's lifts are looking better. I enjoyed being there to help as much as I could. Keep it up guys and gals. Bigguns15's 410 squat looked incredible! Good depth and good form. She's improving as each workout passes.

On Sunday, I also participated in the strongman events. I can't recall how much weight I did on everything because I really didn't pay attention. I was sticking close to Exodus is all I remember. I was pretty much willing to try anything. The log press felt good even though it made my shoulders a bit tight. I guess I did ok because I NEVER do any overhead pressing. The medley was an absolute BLAST! My motivation was time as I was competing against the clock. After the first run through, I wasn't satisfied so I decided to do it again. Yes, I am INSANE! My time improved! Tireflipping is the coolest! It was my superb cardiovascular conditioning that made the weekend another day in the park. Yeah right. :lmao: I thought I was going to die, but I hung in there and kept pushing myself.

Everyone did great! It was fun to watch. Thanks for the wonderful weekend guys and gals.

hey bigguns........... your medley was 50 feet too. 3 flips on the tire is roughly 25 feet. thats why we only did 3 at dardenfest. each one was 25 feet on the medley. so thats why after 3 flips(25 feet) the tire was half way inbetween the implements.

here is a few video's of me and Trinity from this weekend.

Please Right Click and Save Target As:

Trinity Box squat: big pr. most she ever box squatted was 100lbs. she got 115 and tried and missed 135 twice.

Rack pulls: she worked up to a 205 pull for three ( thats also a big pr, the last weekend in june, we went to Bfold's house and she couldnt even pull 185 for 1. this was about the same height, maybe even an inch lower.)

This weekend was awesome! We had such a great time with pwr machine and bigguns.....they are the coolest people......as I'm sure a lot of you know :o) Overall we had a good weekend with events and PRs....I've flipped a tire once and pushed a truck before but I've never done a medley or anything else like throw a medicine ball so it was interesting to say the least....I did the medley in 56 seconds......I don't remember the weight but I do know that I flipped the 200 lb tire......I could barely budge the 400 lb unless it was going downhill...... :o)

bigguns thanks for getting me motivated and completely pumped up again! pwr machine, your form rocks on EVERYTHING! And thanks to Trinity and Exodus for "hosting" our events.........and to cheesecake, thank you for being my constant supporter and motivator....if it wasn't for you I probably would have quit doing this a month into it........boy, am I glad I didn't!

I forgot to point this out earlier. On my second flip of the tire, it bounced up and hit me in the chin. I think I became a little disoriented after that because I started to flip the tire an extra time and then ended up running the wrong way. :lmao:

Exodus is correct. I don't do any overhead presses. I'd like to but they tend to bug my shoulders quite a bit.

Vid of my log presses

Notice when I put the weight down that I'm sucking for air and saying "too fat, can't breath". :lmao: However, I was able to grind out 2 more.

thats awsome
great training partners can make a big differnce

i wish i had someone to train with again, my last training partner was by far the best and he got a promotion and moved

probably once a week i wish i had a good trainin partner

Thanks for the compliment. Besides being very winded, I felt good. And the sets Exodus is talking about is me lifting the weight to lower the rack for shorty (Bigguns15). :)

pwrmach - heaviest was - 135 / 600 / 145 / 155(33 seconds)

Like lightning. :lmao: I guess my 1st time through was 38 seconds, right? It was cool to shave off 5 seconds the second time around.

What's up w/my puter?? I can't see any of X or cheese's vids. I can see BG & PM no problem. Anyone have any ideas?? (studid outdated gov't 'puter)

Well, looky who figured out how to squat!

Bigguns-that was a huge improvement over 3 weeks ago. Keep up the effort and you will be rewarded for it.

Cheesecake,
Tell your GF to drive her head back. She should have made that 135. She is pushing the bar up and forward instead of up and back. A little tweaking and she'll be at 225 before you know it.

Thanks! I really enjoyed the events. It wasn't as rough on my body as I had imagined. My knees are a little achy, but that's nothing new. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

hey flapwrlftr............ thats not cheesecakes girlfriend squating, thats my wife.....lol cheesecakes wife is puttinbuttin78....

bfold.......... thanks for all your help putting it together, and i'll be seeing you in a couple of weeks for that training session, i tried to get puttinbuttin and cheesecake to come too, but she's got jury duty.

pwrmach is very good at this, and so is bigguns, but to do strongman competition justice, they really need to get out there with you and give the stones, conan's wheel, and yoke a run to see what true grit is all about!!!!
