Punishing the French

Shall we forget the Russians working with Iraqi spys? Shall we forget them sending weapons to Iraq as we were engaged in war with them? Shall we forget the weapons and support the Germans have given to Iraq?


I'm not suggesting what we should do, mind you, but it seems that many of us have forgotten these things as fast as they had surfaced.

I agree that the Russians and Germans are not free from blame. I feel that even though the US has the right not to include Russia, Germany and the UN in the rebuilding efforts of Iraq. In the long run it will be detrimental for the US to do so. Now is a time reconcilation. No country can stand on its own, even the US. I just fear the European countries forming a bloc against the US which hurt every country in the long run.

the lack of UN veto hurt the UK more than it did the US politically....the US only pursued the UN route to that extent because of the UK

the people of the US punishing the people of france doesnt make sense to me orther, as its effectivly inflicting misery upon people in france and those who sell french goods in the US just to make a point to the french government. peoples lives may end up in the shitter because of this

and IMHO its got more to do with people believing this is a patriotic thing to do, or mob mentality than it doesn each individual truly feeling the french have done something terribly heinous to the US. otherwise you would expect to see a similar reaction in the UK and Spain
