pulldown bar

at my gym they have the good old normal lat pulldown bar, but recently, ive been using one that looks more like: ()-------------(). you put your hands in the rings and they would be facing each other. my lats arent as wide as id like, should i go to the old fashion bar or is this wide enough?

does your gym have a seated row machine? if they do, try doing rows with the v-bar on that. or try some bent over rows with a bar....
 
do them all, i do a lot for my back, but not too much its usually 5 exercises 3 sets each, i dont get sore, i get stronger, i just dont get wider

Are you using strict form and not swaying back when you do your pulldowns?

What is your back workout like?

Here is what my last back workout was

BB rows- 4x6
rack deads- 4x5
close grip pulldowns 4x6-8
T-bar rows- 3x6
seated rows 3x8

I alternate rack deads with regular deads every third back workout. I don't do pull-ups because of a past shoulder injury/surgery.
 
i use strict form, i dont move, and i always try to pull it down to touch my chest.
my current back routine, althought it does switch every week, i usually do something like this:
WG pulldown 3x12
BB Rows3x10
NG pulldowns3x10
NG rows3x10
straight arm pullovers3x10

i go as heavy as i can without cheating, i try to maintain strict form
