Pull-ups Vs Chin-ups

OK pull ups and chin ups ....which is better and why ?????

Yeah they are both great excercises but i just want to hear some opinions please. :jump:

overhand instead of underhand, why? Because they are harder. Just my opinion im not saying im right and i dont care who disagrees with me, id rather my body get better at something harder. Id rather work up to 20 overhand instead of 20 underhand

Same bro! Plus overhand is way more functional. There's not many times in life you're gonna pull yourself up something with an overhand grip haha!

Fuck it bro. Do both. When you can no longer hit your target rep range with overhand switch to underhand for a few sets to finish off your back and arms. This extra volume pays off.

Yeah but he's killin those smith machine powercleans!

hells yeah man I almost forgot at how good he is at those. Here's the last video he posted of himself doing them:

Southern Lord's 1 rep max power clean in the smith machine 135x1

Don't forget that due to counterweights the bar only weights 20 lbs....so this is actually 110x1...but never the less an extremely impressive lift!

Is that really a video of smith machie power cleans? If so, ho-ly shit!!!!!! lol

I can't watch it now, but I will surely watch it this afternoon.

And yeah bros, I only lift weights on the Internet :D

lol tblock I met SL a few months back when I went on holiday to america he is actually a really strong dude and a great laugh. Only managed to snap one video of us working out together but this is him showing me his #1 exercise on leg day:

Im running the camera and the dude that came to help is SL's "friend" from dance class if I remember right...

WOW, green eggs and ham?

I do both, unless the ceiling fan in my weight room is on (OUCH). By changing grip direction (over-under handed), and varying the width of your grip on the bar, you are working different parts of each muscle group. A must-do for anyone wanting to work the whole body. Otherwise, you'll be one of those bro's with huge bi's, and huge pecs, and as soon as you go to help a bud move a fridge, you'll pull a dozen small muscles that escaped being worked...

personally I like chin ups in my bicep routine. What else will pre exhaust your bi's for a work out and be so isolated.
And pull ups as a warmup for back but it get's more difficult in the off season with all the extra weight I carry.

I only do pull ups on upper back day. Chins ups seem to easy. I guess it all has its place. Pullups in general are one of my favorite lifts.

One of those lifts I compare to squats and deads, works the entire core and the lats/delts, pure functional strength. Start from a dead hang and git up there. Great feeling.
