Be sure to opt for the IMAX version if available in your areas. The scope of the audio-visual package here is massive and it definitely helps convey the experience. No idea why they tacked on 3D though as I saw no area that really took advantage of it. Some of the vistas scenes' sense of depth were probably enhanced as well as a certain storm sequence but not much else.
There's also definitely more going on plot-wise in this one, and I think that's where it loses a good amount of people. You really have to watch it twice before judging, and there are still unanswered questions, some of which are admitted by narration. I think the plan is to make another trilogy out of this, although it seemed like there was already too many plot points jammed into this first one, and none were really developed fully. Almost like everything was just being "hinted" at. I hope it does well because I want to figure out all the pieces to the puzzle here.
