powerlifting workouts

sinister

New member
I need some advise. I have been bodybuilding for the last 7 years but I have always been into the strength and size other than looking good. I always watch my food intake but only for calories not fat. I would like to try powerliftung routines because I love the strength more than anything. Can you guys offer any workouts or where I can go to look up routines. Thanks for anything.

i don't have any links myself, but someone will pass that onto you, but congrats to your interest in powerlifting, i think it's a great thing to get into, and it's a lot of fun, too..........constantly challenging yourself is an awesome thing.

Here is my original training log. This one took me up to I think a 725 deadlift and a 780 pin squat?? Youd have to look through it, I dont recall. But the exercises are laid out and explained, and a lot of good bullshitting goes on! :)

Monster's Original Training Log

Then for a change there is my current one, which is modified for throwing a bit as Im getting ready for the coming Highland Games season. But it is still basically a powerlifting log with a couple of obvious additions.

Monster's Highland Games Training Log

I currently lift raw, but as soon as I can pool together some scratch, I'll be picking up some gear so I can look as funny as my training partners...

Here is the log of one of my training partners, Curious Goerge (or as he is known here, curgeo)

Curious George's Training Log

Last and certainly not least is my other training partner (who doesnt post here), the "wee man" himself, joepalooka

Something to bear in mind is that you need to watch the number of reps. Youll be working in a rep range that may be unfamiliar to you and you ll need to adjust to understanding that the reps that build muscle tissue are not the ones building raw strength.

I hope that helps. :)

www.elitefts.com has some great stuff. Check out the "Eight Keys" in the Articles section of Testosterone.net on elite. Read anything by Louis Simmons, Christian Thibadeau, Dave Tate, Mel Siff, Vladimir Zatsiorsky and Verkoshansky.

The Logs Monster posted are us starting out 6 months ago to now.

My largest problem with getting into powerlifting was getting over the phobia of gaining weight. I wanted to keep my waist at 30 inches. I was OBSESSED with it. I started powerlifting a couple of years ago for about 3 months and stopped due to my waist getting blocky. I regret that. 6 Months ago I found some great training partners that were as retarded (in a good way) as I am and we started to train for power. My waist is now 36, but I am stronger than I have ever been. Some of that is fat, but a lot of it is my waist getting more muscular. Now that I have overcome that, my weights are getting better and better.

Good luck and email us if you need any help

good to have you posting here more often..now all we need to do is get this forum to be come more popular than the training geek forum..then we're all set
:chomp:

Monster and I are going to see what we can do about that. We should probably start with a breakdown of Westside programs.....kind of like a Westside for Dummies kind of thing. That way all the links that we post and that people don't read could be scratched and some information from us wacko powerlifters can be learned.

Metal Militia should be covered and the techniques of benching, deading and squatting could be discussed.

I'll be gone for a week, but if you think it's a good idea, let me know.
