Postworkout question

Immediately following my workout, I drink a Gatorade....20-30 min later, I hit my protein shake.

My question is, if I decide to do 30-45 min of cardio immediately following my weightlifting, does the cardio count as my workout? In other words, do I want to drink the Gatorade during my cardio or wait until my cardio is done??

GATORADE?! I drunk that stuff during and after a workout years ago and I never went back to it since! Bad tasting Gatorade! Yecch! I take my vit/min supplements and others ancillaries with my concoction of a protein shake which consist of ice cream, any flavor, yogurt, bananas, a little creatine, non-fat dry milk, whole milk, whey powder. It's a friggin' liquid meal! LOL

I use the Gatorade as an insulin booster/simple carb source for better absorption of the protein 20 min later....am I doing it the right way???
 
the objective based on study data is to psike insulin and provide easily digested protein and simple sugars immediately PWO to take advantage of the "anabolic window". the sugars in gatorade arent all in the best form for the objective.

the easy answer is whey + dextrose immediately PWO and/or during workout. there are more esoteric and marginally more effective combos, but ^^ does the trick. the whey also spikes insulin btw


as for timing, the anabolic growth window is timed from when you stress a body part far as I can tell from reading various sources (havent seen any actual studys that break it down that finely) -- its not bodywide, its local.

I changed my diet around for cutting (have a cruise in August..woohoo). Can you tell me how to do it both ways? Thanks!

I must add something here that I left out. I NEED ALL THE FAT THAT I CAN GET TO PUT ON MY SKINNY ASS ECTO FRAME!!![
