I want to see results of who uses simple carbs post workout such as dextrose/malto, or complex carbs such as oats or rice, while trying to stay lean.

I use dextrose PW regardless if I'm trying to lean out or gain size. For you first PW meal, your body needs fast acting carbs, and dextrose fits the bill.

if carbs are consumed post workout, I'd do the dextrose.. to get the biggest slin spike, but personally, it isn't nescaserry IMO, I'd rather shoot some slin and avoid the carbs.

Definately go for the insulin spike.

variation, i don't understand, 'shoot some slin and avoid the carbs'? You mean shoot insulin? You'd still have to balance it out with carbs. I must have missed something.

Sorry, here's more on this...

I don't think the dextrose is a prob just after workouts, I'm assuming you don't eat sugars or a lot of carb prior to that meal. Provided you rarely eat fast carbs, they can be good for you after a workout. Obviously too many of them makes you fat, and, if you're trying to stay lean, you just drop the number of them proportionately to your diet, you don't have to exclude them.

you don't need to consume carbohydrates to balance blood sugar..

amino acids will conver to glucose to keep blood sugar levels safe.. specifically ones like alanine, arginine.. and others you just need to consume the proper amount of protein according to iu's of insulin, then post workout you store pure muscle, while keeping blood sugar safe.. and not having carbs convert to glucose -> fat and fat -> fat ..

when you spike insulin after consuming large amounts of dextrose your pancrease will over compensate with insulin, because blood sugar is so high and it want's to ensure saftey and excess is converted to triglycerides and then fat...

I thought you ate funnel cake PW?

Wait a minute, I've shot insulin before too many times to think that not consuming carbs afterwards is safe. You start to shake and get the sweats. I have to disagree about the skipping carbs, Variation.

What you said about dextrose, and how it winds up turning into fat easily is true. But the original question was what to consume PW and stay lean. This is what I said prior on this thread:

"Obviously too many of them makes you fat, and, if you're trying to stay lean, you just drop the number of them proportionately to your diet, you don't have to exclude them."

In otherwords if consuming 100g dex in addition to your protein seems to be making you fat over a stretch of time, cut it down to less, but don't eliminate it. True, sugar is not good for the body and it can make you fat, but at this particular time of catabolism it becomes important to get insulin in your body. The calories in this meal are more likely to be used for repair than in probably any other meal of the day. Just eating sugar at this one time should do WAY more positive in the way of keeping muscle, than negative in the way of gaining fat, if it's even a problem.

Maybe It's been too long since I've been in the game, so if I'm wrong, feel free to call me a jackass.

naw I don't think you're a jackass, and I understand where you're coming from, you're right he asked about carbs.. my bad.. ya.. anyway.. my votes for dextrose post workout at this isolated time... and I'd say rest of the time clean and slight caloric deficit. but hey, there's lots of ways to do this, really comes down to the basics, when going the natural route IMO.

I get mine at vitamin world for $1.30....gym price is $3.....

Yeah, sorry, TL = Twinlab. It seems like everywhere I look their stuff the highest price. I know they have pretty good quality though.

IMO, dextrose post workout with creatine, glutamine, and protein is superior. I also take 900mg of AnaFit r-ALA as well.

Then I eat about an hour later and my meal is chicken breasts and some sweet potato's. Yum.

You take 900mg r-ALA for 75g carbs??????

Shit, I dose 100mg per 25g carbs, so 300mg r-ALA for me with my 75g dextrose.

Oops that was a typo, damn it! LOL, I take 400mg PW. So four 100mg pills. LOL, I have not had all my coffee yet! :)
