what made you decide to take it back up then?
the fact that you have a goal to work towards is always going to help you achieve things, if you really, really want to compete i'm sure you'll have no problem doing so. good luck, more power to you bro

I was always told bodybuilding had no money to be made, bodybuilding was a waste of time by other people. So at age 23 after 5 years of throwing Iron . I just said fuck it I wanted a house and nice cars and the typical normal life was a normal life.

I noticed my body started changing on its own around age 28 I started filling out in the forarms and calves even though I was not lifting. My body was reaching maturity. I started lifting once more at age 29 and was blown away by how fast muscle grew and how nice and solid it looked vs when I was in my early 20's I was bulky but kinda soft. Seems I am a late bloomer and being ate age 31 I am reaching a peak of somesort but each year keeps getting better and better so i think by age 35 I will be at a peak and hopefully look the best I will ever look

no matter how many times i read it, im still not sure what guardian means with number 3. explain?

think about posing. such as a bicep or your chest. have u ever flexed it so hard it hurt or cramped? this is a little extreme but bear with me. now think about doing dumbell bench press. u can press the db's in such a way to emulate this flexing action by concentrating on squeezing the target muscle group or u can simply press mindless just concentrating on reps and get very little tension on your chest and use mostly your front delts and triceps and lats. there is a whole spectrum in-between. it takes a bit away from the ego in the gym.

Started bodybuilding at 15.

Guardian I follow the same concept . I always tell people it is not how much you lift it is how you lift it.

I see guys like you mention doing endless lat pull downs. I can watch and see the lats are not even doing the work. I can use half the weight grip the bar and actually pull with the lats , squeeze ,flex contract them and work the lats and feel them pump up and swell.
Sure it hurts the ego at first but fuck it I am trying to be a bodybuilder not a weightlifter.

Bodybuilder = sculpts the body
weightlifter = moves weight

I go through cycles where I do lift alot of weight with a fast explosive motion but that might only be for a few weeks or one excersize during a routine.

People watch me do standing alternate bicep curls and think is strange i do not use alot of weight , 3 seconds during supination up ,squeeze flex 3 seconds down back to prone position per arm a set takes almost 2 minutes 10 reps per arm and by the time I am done with one set ,some nilly head next to me has finished his 3 sets of what i call " bicep upper cuts " bicep curls throwing the weight and using his elbows motion to take the pressure off the biceps . Usually the girls get proper form and tempo's in my gym more then the guys.

I am not the strongest guy at the gym , nor could I care

i know i'll never make any money out of it, i already have a great job, but im going to carry on forever lol, i genuinely enjoy it, pushing weight (fuck knows why-i think its the sense of satisfaction you get through lifting bigger weights than you could before) talking about it, shit me and the few friends i have that train seriosuly can sit there and talk about traing/aas/diet for hours!
i guess a lot of it is muscle maturity, and some bros take longer than other. im naturally very slim, 20 years old, so i would imagine, training aside, il start to fill out in a few years, or like you it might not happen til my late 20's

^ yes, I'll give mine too, when your doing you movements/ reps, think/ concentrate on isolating just that muscle, it requires going slower imo, all the while your pulling/ pushing, your concentrating on contracting just that muscle and every fiber in it with a VERY deliberate movement. ( it can be very Zen like, almost hypnotic) very deliberate, mine is usually slower reps, with an extreme squeeze at the top/ bottom.

Like he said, you see guys in the gym just throwing weights up any way they can, just banging away. You won't be able to use as heavy weight using this method, so if it's attention that you want, this is NOT the way.

That's my 2mls. If you post the question over on the AAS side, you'll find others explanations, it would be interesting to see.

hey tx, i've got a pretty good idea, but could you explain what you mean by the 'extreme squeeze at the top/bottom'

u remember when i asked if u ever had flexed so hard that u cramped? this is the extreme squeeze minus the cramping.
