These situations are tough to figure out, for who's telling the truth. And the media will nearly always bend it to make the cops look bad, which sometimes they are, but hopefully most times not. We'll probably never know exactly what happened, but I do know that the taxpayers will be paying this guy $31M or more. If it's what he said happened, then no amount of money will make up for it, but if it's something like the Rodney King incident, where beating him down was the very last resort after he kept rising up with the taser needles in, stoned out of his mind on PCP, and kept jumping on the cops while foaming at the mouth and babbling (of course that part was not shown in the news), and most any other cop would just have shot him, then the cops will get a bum rap. Yes I know what I'm talking about, as I was working at KTLA TV at the time that tape was brought in, and my friend Don was the one who viewed George Holliday's 8mm tape first, before anyone was called. It had a lot more in it before the beating part, which was never shown in the news, and was thrown out of court on technicalities. And just to be clear, I don't care if King was Black and the cops were white, or if they were all purple with orange stripes... Facts are facts. Anyway, I don't judge this case based on the King case... No relation, but wanted to get a point across that the media will tend to make things look more inflamed for a better rating. Nobody (except maybe a child rapist) deserves his junk cut off, no matter what, but if there really was a fight, the dog would have acted on instinct to stop the attack, and dogs don't necessarily think about what they're biting.
