PLer Squats vs Oly style... quote

The thing is...

Just because someone can squat one way doesn't always mean that they can squat well the other way.

I do, however, believe that one can train with the PL squat and increase their OL squat...but not near as much vice versa. MY PL squat is slow and I have to keep my body from "falling" so to speak at depth. When I OLY squat...my body can drop past it and basically bounce back up pretty well...creating a momentum out of the hole that I can't get from the PL squat.

For instance...a Pro Strongman buddy of mine can OLY squat 400 x 20+...but he has big problems with bigger weights on the squat. I do not feel that I could OLY squat 400 x 20 (know I can't) but can beat him on squat events when it comes to a contest...even if we use the same stance.

Here is a clip of me doing OLY squats...2nd time in YEARS!!!! These were done after box squats and deadlifts...my legs were already shaky...

I've got a question.

I plan on possibly competing in the future in powerlifting, but I want all around leg developement and athletic carry over too.

What about doing full squats for warmups until the last warmup set before your work sets, then switch to PL style?

As you get stronger you will be full squatting and PL squatting more and more and will be able to do both well.

The only negative I can see to this is that the full squat is training a different groove and range of motion so you don't get as much neural efficiency built for the PL style as you could if you did all warmups sets PL style.
Ive got your answer whether or not you want to follow my advice is your choice..your posts seems to waffle between wanting to be strong but wanting to gain size..i always believe they are one and the same..anyway this is something that i KNOW a competetive WPO PL'er uses and he has very large quads..are you ready this is how simple it is:

Reg PL style squats warm up..then one all out set between 5-10 reps (smetimes use briefs, wraps, belt depending on weight)

Oly high bar close stance pause squats raw (belt somtimes)
3x5
beofre people say is that it? reember if you can get more reps in a set then its only a warmup ..the 1 all out set of squats should literally be that ALL OUT..you will not be able to go inot pause squats after 2 mins rest..most likely youll need 10
