Guys, I am pissing my pants here.

My box of chocolates apparently came in the mail today from an overseas friend. I recieved a notice today that says a signature is required and that I pick it up at the post office.

Just yesterday this friend was telling me that the country he ships from sometimes alerts U.S. to FORCE a signature, regardless of wether it was required or not. He says that it doesn't happen often, maybe 15% of the time.

Well I don't know if I was unlucky, or if it was because of the recent anthrax scare, but I have to go pick it up and sign for it.

I am pissing myself, I will lose my job and career if this is a bust. My box of chocolates is not worth much at all its an EXTREMELY small order.

Most people have said that the signature is no big deal, and it doesn't matter one way or the other, just suck it up and sign for it. I realize I put myself in this position, so I have no room to complain. Can you all tell me that this is normal? And not to sweat it? Cause I am sweating bigtime.

Thanx
:(

It's a 50/50 chance...I have heard people get away from it and people who have been busted from it...Have you contacted the chocolate factory about this???

Does a 360??? Don't you mean 180 M0f0??? If it was a 360, you'd be right back where you started from???

ZZZAAAHH???

C:rolleyes:

No, I didn't contact the sender because he was just telling me a couple days ago that even though he puts "no signature required", sometimes the U.S. still forces a signature requirement.

Has anyone heard of this? I'm not sure I want to chance this.

The realj, what if it was???

Here is what my sender told me days ago:

"I sent it non registered so signature isnt needed BUT! sometimes
your, US post office ask to sign for parcels from ******. My statistic shows
that it happens in 10-15% of the cases. If they will ask you - dont worry
and sign. NOBODY was caught with my parcels yet! And no seizures were reported!
So dont worry if they ask you to sigh (very little chance though)."

All advice welcome!!!

look....if the sender does not require a signature then when the package is delivered if it cant fit in your mail box the carrier will come to your door to give it you. now if yo ass aint home he takes it back to the post office and protocol there is whether the sender needs a sig or not who ever picks up the package has to sign for it.

THINK ABOUT IT---IF THE POSTMAN IS DROPPING A PACKAGE OFF AT YOUR HOUSE THE POST OFFICE IS COVERED BECAUSE THEY DERLIVERED AND A "RESIDENT" OF THAT HOUSE RECEIVED THE PACKAGE. NOW IF NO ONE IS HOME AND THEY TAKE IT BACK TO THEIR OFFICE AND JO SHMO WALKS IN AND SAYS "YEA THAT PACKAGE BACK THERE IS MINE, ILL TAKE THAT" HOW DO THEY COVER THEMSELVES ID THEY DONT ASK FOR A SIG? THATS WHY THEY WANT A SIGNATURE SO THAT IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG THEY CAN SAY WELL HEY THE PERSON WHO THE PACKAGE WAS SENT TO PICKED IT UP.....ITS JUST SO THEY CAN COVER THERE ASS.......I SIGN ALLLL THE TIME AT THE POST OFFICE WHEN THEY MISS ME AT HOME.

just dont sign if the shit comes to your door step..no matter what they say

Well it does say that they tried to deliver it today, but the thing is this:

I live in an apartment complex. We have an office in the front open during normal business hours, I even recieved a shirt once from Land's End through mail that I picked up at the office. The delivery system left it ther for me.

Now ALSO, being that I live in an apartment complex, I have a mailbox with a key. It is a decent size, there is no reason a little package shouldn't fit in there.

ALSO, I have been shipped a letter once via express that was delivered when I wasn't home, they left a notice on my door, twice, telling me I can pick it up at the post office because I wasn't home when they tried to deliver.

Now TODAY, I just had this slip that says they tried to deliver, but this slip was in my mailbox. I don't understand why they wouldn't A) leave the package in my mailbox, or B) leave the package at the front office, or C) leave a notice on my door.

Am I just paranoid?

Go for it, I would. If you lived near me, then I'd go pick itup for you and sign your name for $20. I'm sure that you could get someone to pick it up for you and just sign your name. Do the people at the post office know your face? If not send someone else, if they try to catch that person they wouldn't be able to do anything to them since it was sent to you, right?

Oh well, I'm not gonna have anyone sign for me.

I'll just suck it up and sign, I'm less worried now.

Anybody know about this "registered mail" thing that might cause you to sign, but might not, from a certain country?

bro, go for it, unless everything turns to paranoid. the smallest things like people's expressions, and the tone of voice are the key to telling. i'd go for it, and pull out if something does a 360.

Haha, 360. That's good shit.

Bro go sign for it,no one can prove that you didn't know the contents of the package as long as you didn't open it,Take it home get a black marker and write return to sender leave it unopened a few days!!!RADAR

Just give it a couple of days than go pick it up, what are they gonna do?

Get a bunch of DEA agents to sit around at the post office for a few days just to bust you for possesion of some minor goodies?

And if shit doesen't seem right just use your spider sense and bounce if you have to!

I think I know who it's coming from. I would DEFINETLY sign. I've signed numerous times without incident. Signing means less than you guys think it does. It's almost reached urban legend status...
