My uncle is hookign me up with a bunch of furniture--free. Unfortunately, the funrinture is in NJ and I live in the DC area.

The best deal I can find is Ryder TRuck for about $250 with mileage, Uhaul would be about $335.

Can you think of any cheaper way of getting the shit down here, given that

a) I don't have any friends with trucks big enough to carry all the shit

b) No one is interested in going in on it with me, he has way more furniture than I need but I just want to bring down a couple of twin beds, a couple dressers, and some lamps and bedside tables.

If my any chance you live in the area and want to go in that's cool but mostly I'm looking for cheap ways to move.

Thanks

Thank you so much for your help alien. After I chose to start a negative thread about someone else instead of you. That's the last time I'll do that!

Call a local moving company! Check and see if they, by chance, have a truck coming your way with a partial load.

You could perhaps offer to pay them $100 to have them throw your shiat on the front or back of a partially loaded truck!

Worth a try I guess!

Since you're tight on money, I'd say porno-mommy's got the best suggestion. If you have a few extra bucks that you could throw at it, you might consider the following. Have the furniture shipped just one state over to NY, specifically Laguardia airport. Charter a Concorde plane to have the furniture flown down to Cape Canaveral, FL, where it will be loaded onto whichever space shuttle has not blown up yet. Once the shuttle launches, it will orbit the earth until it's directly over your apartment, at which point your furniture will be ejected in a sealed space capsule. The capsule will reenter the earth's atmosphere and parachute it's way down to your apartment complex parking lot. Take the Segway you have recently purchased to travel to its location and direct the Miami Dolphins first string offensive line which you have hired to move the furniture into your apartment.

How stupid is this????

Do you have ANY idea how much the tolls would be for that?

But seriously, I rented one of those Ryders or Uhauls, don`t remember which, and it was for $100+. I used it the whole day to move. it was a huge truck. I rented it from NJ too.

Maybe I`m mistaken, It was 3 years ago, but shop around.

Get a truck from a rentacar. You can get a full size pickup for70-80 bucks a day total, prolly less if you are smart. Even if you do three trips, its a lot less than even the ryder truck.
