I got prowled on this week, since i'm new. Had no plans on using the source.

I suggest you guys head over to vbulletin.org and check out some of the forum mods out there, it will make you all think twice about using PM systems on any vBulletin boards.

Forward them straight to admin. The mods don't have direct access to the orbiting anvil delivery system.

Yeah the PM system is great. These are the best boards money can buy, but with it being open source and all there is privacy issues. Not a bad thing for us, bad for scammers.

You could make a app for the boards that searches the PM system of all the users looking for 'tags' and when an admin logs in they have a list of all the PM's sent out with those keywords. Now since this is a free community to sign up it could be done. Not sure how you get around the paid member part.

I'm a developer and trust me these boards can do so much behind the scenes its kind of scary.

Hopefully this will discourage any users from trying.

I ment Scammers, is spam a problem here?

If they implement some type of system and let the users know, it could discourage some types of the scams. But you know how they work, they will find a loop hole.

I used to own and run a gaming community a few years ago, we didn't have 177k worth of members but to help cut down on cheating and the distribution of cheat programs we implemented a system allowing us to read PM's of users. Did they know? No, did we read everyone PM's no... just the people we suspected.

Just remember... You can educate yourself all day long on gear, but also make sure your education yourself on the platform you’re using for messaging online.
