People Who Know About Computers

I have a cable modem on my one computer in my room. I have another computer(s) in my house and i want to hook up cable service to that computer. Its an old100Mhz machine with a 20 Gig Hard drive/ Win 95..

What type of hardware would i need. I knowi could use a router but are they effective. They go for about $100.00 but i dont want to spend cash on that if it will slow things dow..What about setting up a mini network..

Anyways, what type of cable is used to connect from the cable modem to the network card in my computer. Looks like a big phone cable...Anyone know the name of this?

A 2 0r 4 hub router. D-link sells those

2 10/100 either net cards.

A cable/dsl router would be your best bet. No it won't degrade your performance. The only problem is you'll need to run Cat5 (fat telephone wire) from the computer to the router. If they're in seperate rooms it can be a pain in the ass to wire the house.

Wiring the house is fun!... Ill just pretend im tom cruise in mission impossible running the cable to all the rooms through the crawl spaces...Even the rooms that dont have computers...Il even set the timer on my watch to make it more interesting...:p

Fuck No, I admit it was an honest mistake. I just got dont working an 8hour shift at my job and couldnt see well in my dimly lit room...
