Do you find yourself trying to raise your kids differently or the same as you were raised?

I am trying to raise mine a little differently. Personally, I think that my parents did a great job of raising someone to compete in the world today, but there's the flip side to that as the person they raised is never really satisified with anything that they have and always has the need to want more.

On some level, this is the mantra of progress and it should be good. On another level, this is the road to madness (as is any quest for perfection) and I would prefer my children to not experience the results of this never ending pursuit.

Great. I'm not, I promise... LOL. I would post up a pic, but my house burned down a few years ago and since then I've always been behind the camera taking my kids pictures. I'll dig around on my harddrive and see if I have anything presentable, but I doubt it.

Ok, I uploaded the only two pictures I have of me to the gallery. Holy hell that takes FOREVAH, and I"m on cable! One is a professional pic of me and my oldest son done in 2002, and the other one is a boobie shot Better look quick - when my husband sees it I'm sure I'll have to take it down.

- he doesn't pick up after himself
- he eats food off the floor
- he plays in the toilet
- he's always knocking things over
- he's always whining
- he demands constant attention
