I talked to a porn webmaster one time and he said alot of the same things these guys are saying. The guy said that he only made about $15000/yr. He mentioned that a lot of sites get shut down from having copyright violations. If you get caught selling one of Playboys pics, it is going to cost you to make it right. So you cant just get your content free on Kazaa and Google images.

He also mentioned that for a while, he took pics himself. After dealing with some shady bitches, he decided to use a private studio instead of his own house (some of these women are addicts).

Those are considered investment capital, expertise and time that is usually out of the hands of most simpletons.

But even with that lessened investment expense -- the rules of success in online porn still doesn't change. You still have to figure out a way to reach customers and drag them in and have them sign up. Far from an easy trivial task. Especially with the sheer gluttony of adult sites out there.

Most of their money i bet is made from those $300 "testers" who sign up, try it for a bit. Do that whole "Hey it's only $300, let's try it out". See nothing come out. Then Quit. Like i said: Even 10 people a month at $300 is $3000/month for some simple html and cold fusion programming with a sql server backend.

Not bad profits for them.

Someone mentioned a 1:1000 conversion ratio(conversion is a sale of a membership) This, last I checked, is actually a ratio that was hard to attain, even with niche marketing. I have heard of people doing 1:250 on Gallery Posts, but that ratio is insane. Even if you were to obtain 1:1000, at 40 a membership(pricey one, good luck selling that), that is only twenty bucks for you. Now, you say that sounds great......but do you know how much effort goes into generating 1000 hits, let along 1000 niche or targeted hits? Targeted/niche traffic is what you would need to even get that 1:1000 ratio, if all else is good.

Steer away from the $$/month type membership deal. That's so passe.

Develop your own, and start investing in technology that allows you to pay per view. Similar to peep shows or video on demand. Sell videos online for viewing for $2.00/pop. Have thousands of clips. Create commission structures with authors of those videos -- in exchange for them directing traffic to you.

Stuff like that. Similar to how music is currently being sold online. 99c/song.

I sure as hell ain' forking out $20/month on some stupid membershp thing. But i may want to pay one-time $2.00 to view some hot piece of ass staring at me. What's 2 bucks? For you -- those 2 bucks add-up.
