Owning a club

I am a partner in two clubs in STL.......on is very well established and doing fantastic....but I bought into that one after it had been up and running for 4 years....no brainer there....the other has been up for almost 9 months.....the first 6 were brutal......but now things are booming.....things die down in the Lou....from April to mid May.....but the summers rock.....if I can offer one word of advice.....do your demographic research....and don't waste an assload of money on advertising.......word of mouth is how clubs get started....and everything should be relatively cost friendly for the first 6 months.....it's like selling blow man.....ya get em hooked and then......bam.....one last thing.....hire an experienced bar manager...who you TRUST!!!!!...Hopefully a friend......because bars are not only shut down for lack of people in the door...I have watched more than one club open and close in three months because of thieving ass bartenders......free drinks....heavy pours.....dishonest tills.....you name it.....good luck and godspeed....:D

Excellent info PitBullstl. Thanks.

How much did it cost you to buy into that already-established club?

Karma your way...

At first I was a limited partner...ie: only taking the door.....now I am a full 49/51% split...being the 49% it always allows me an easier out.....but to answer your question...alot of the purchase price was done in "trade" so it is hard to say....but I would estimate it all worked out to roughly $250,000....which isn;t bas when you consider it is the third most sought out club for recognizable talent to be booked at in the Midwest......sorry if this is incoherent.....I am coming down off of a three nighter......peace:p

250K doesn't sound too bad... you in the black from that yet? Or put another way, as a 49% partner, how much would you estimate you net profit per month?
