First....THERE IS NO WAY RONNIE SHOULD BE MR. OLYMPIA WITH THAT FUCKING HUGE STOMACH!!! He is huge and has good symmetry but he has a weak link.


Ok...bodybuilding has gone down the wrong path and its the IFBBs fault. If they reward freaks with first place then everyone is going to turn into a freak.

Second, Kevin Levrone looks amazing.

Third, Shawn Ray sounds like a little kid. I thought he would have a deeper voice.

More opinions after show.
 
Oh yeah...the producer is an ass for leaving out the posing music. That is the main part of the individual posedown.

What the fuck kind of music are they using anyway??
 
Don't forget Orville Burke who placed 6th at the age of 39!!!

This year he can compete in the masters olympia... Imagine... in about 3-4 years we can have Ronnie Coleman , Orville Burke , Nasser El Sombaty , Flex Wheeler , Paul Dilleit , and Kevin Levrone all in the Masters Olympia...what a show!!!

Mr Olympia should be the epitome of bodybuilding. Ronnie is massive but he has a weak link(massive gh gut) that the judges look past. Today was the fist time I learned that the judges are pretty much the same every year. That is fucked up.

NO WAY! You didn't just say that Ronnie is the best poser! He is the worst poser hands down to ever win an olympia title. His movements are akward on stage and his positioning on most poses looks off. Not to mention his stage presence sucks. The best posers are Flex Wheeler, Shawn Ray, Darrem Charles and Vince Taylor HANDS DOWN. Ronnie is TERRIBLE at posing and always has been.
 
I agree Ronnie should not have won. I was at the Olympia and during the final posedown, both Ronnie and Cutler were feet from me. I have to say Jay deserved the title.
 
then why isnt shawn ray and dareem charles mr. olympia, and flex isnt or wasnt competing, bro I hear the talk of pro's everyday, and the consensus is ronnie is the true mr. olympia, I have heard many say his posing is superior......bro I dont know where you hear or get your BS, but I get mine straight from the pros mouths at golds venice!

Ronnie sizes his ass down, and was more harder and bigger in the back, arms, and chest, and his legs are bigger than jay cutlers, may not be as cut but hey, does being ripped in the abs and legs make one the unofficial mr. olympia........I dont think so!!!!!!
 
i HATE looking at their distended guts... it ruins their physiques for me... some of them aren't too bad but to keep up with that level of competition, GH is a must. So i can see their reasons.

i watched the show today just like ive been watching my recording of saturdays airing every day since then, and almost everybody was somewhat off except for cutler, levrones legs looked skinny, ronnie wasnt very cut, titus looked like shit like always, and about shawn rays voice...i think he's gay, not that it bothers me, but he talks the way he does and wears a ring on his right pointer finger
 
I do really like Vince Taylors physique. I think cutler will win this year, he is hungry and pissed for losing this past year. Also cutler is young, if he stays on track, he will be the bodybuilder of the future.-WULF

I've followed competitive bodybuilding towards the end of Haney's run and if you KNOW ANYTHING about posing you can make a pretty easy distinction on who can pose and who can't. Ronnie even admitted after winning the title in '98 that he really worked hard on his posing with a choreographer for the win in '99 as his posing was seen as a weakness. Do yourself a favour and stick in your VCR any of his posing routines from '98-2000 (I haven't seen 2001 yet) and just watch a nightmare happen on stage. He can't flow from pose to pose like a seasoned veteran should be doing, instead each transition is choppy and clumsy looking. Now Haney wasn't exactly Mr. Fluid motion either so that is why he's posed to DRAMATIC music. Not the R&B style shit that an awkard guy coleman should NEVER pose to. You pose to what your physique looks like and Ronnie is the furthest off just about in an olympia lineup. Ronnie is HUGE and freaky and should pose to dramatic music, not R Kelly or Brian McKnight!!!!!
Leave that for the Dexters and Shawn Rays, guys with REAL symmetry and nice classic shape and asthetics.
I never said that Ronnie shouldn't be Mr.olympia, I do however think Flex looked better in '99 and should have won but that's besides the point.

Give me a fucking break, dude. They were the only 2 who didn't take their masking agents at the right time. Did your "pros" also tell you that they got to where they are by taking boron pills? Are you listening to other people or dod you watch the Olympia? If massive size was what they were looking for, then Ruhl is a giant... If ripped to the bone and great symmetry was what they wanted, then it was Jay and Shawn and Cormier.
 
First of all I am glad physical TV is going to air BB shows now Olympia, arnold, NOc , but if they are going to do it do it RIGHT!! And second If you guys noticed they gave ronnie a (5) for his posing routine which is bullshit, why just because he had a flag and matching trunks the guy CANT pose worth SHIT!! Its all politics and a bunch of bullshit as far I'm concerned. I think it's wrong for everyong to say jay tested positive for diruectics and he shouldnt of won 2nd They ALL use it how do you think they get such definition!!!!!along with the boat loads of other drugs they use to prepare for compition. Bodybuilding is not about how big someone is it how big and COMPLETE their phsique is and I think Jay took it this year Hands Down no question about it. I guess things will never change I just we could do something about it!!! Oh well.

OPINIONS VARY...I think Cutler looks better overall that Ronnie. Cutler legs were a lot bigger than I thought.

Levrone looked great except his legs were lacking. And Cormier looked great.

I think Cormier and Cutler have the top physiques.

BUT THAT IS MY OPINION. I DON'T GIVE A SHIT WHAT YOUR PRO BUDDIES THINK.

Mr predictions for the upcoming 2002 Mr. Olympia are..
I think Ronnie is scared shitless now after being pushed so hard from Cutler and will wake up to come in his best all time shape in 2002. He'll win again and retire after. All the negativity is probably fueling Ronnies workouts to make him his best ever. I'm not saying I agree with it, I personally very much dislike Ronnies build and always have.
Remember though, Flex Wheeler is making a comeback and Kevin nor Chris were in Shape last year. I think Cutler will have his work cut out for him to place even second this time around.

The "O", the IFBB, the "judging", .... its all a huge scam and the results are optimized to sell supplements. Weider controls most of it too.

This is not some amateur sport, its all about the business, and the guys, the competitors, are simply a means of advertising.

So stop getting yourselves all tensed up over this. Its not worth it. Sadly, until something major happens (like we have a massive series of deaths from certain drugs, or we have fixed judging clearly caught and brought out by the press) it won't change.

Saying that Ronnie is the best poser in bodybuilding because he is Mr. Olympia is a mistake! Everyone knows Ronnie cannot pose but muscularily is superior to guys like shawn and darrem who CAN pose. If the judges were to give shawn or darrem a 1st in posing then that would automically make them contenders for the title even though they do not compare muscularily to Ronnie or Jay. You see now the judges are at an impasse...give the posing to Ronnie and he will beat out Jay, or give it to Jay and make him a clear cut winner--> Jay was a cut above that night...anyone who thinks otherwise is narrowminded and biased to their own favorite bber. Im a Kevin Levrone fam but damn he looked like shit and he needs to bring his legs up to par.

And i would like to know if these bbers at golds would say they know who the fuck you are cause i talked to Jay Cutler himself and the consensus is that Ronnie got a gift brother...

Jay Cutler wins this year or Ronnie in a gift--> there is nothing Ronnie can do to get rid of that awful gut...Jay just looks better.

If you look closely during the show and at the pics in the mags you will see that ronnie looked better than jay in most poses. Jay had him beat in a couple, but ronnie was the best overall. Just because he is the champ doesn't mean that guys aren't going to have certain bodyparts that are better than his. His total package is what wins the show for him because he may have the best chest, arms, and shoulders in the sport. Jay has excellent abs and striations, but ronnie just looks better standing by him most of the time. I saw cormier at the arnold and I hate to admit it, but I'm starting to like the slightly smaller and more ripped physique that he has. I think he look better than jay. Levrone doesn't have the size and I don't even think that he had the cuts that he once had. The judges do tend to give the decision to the mass monsters, but they often look better overall than the smaller guys. (not always though) Nasser is done. Ray is done. Nasser has a huge ass and not a good back. The judges' decisions are slightly political cause the sport is still taboo and they need to pick the person who would best represent the sport to the public. Ronnie, though he does look better than the rest, is the best for this part. He is huge and pretty tight, even his abs aren't too terrible. I just think that they shouldn't be afraid to give the Olympia to someone else, if that person happens to look better than ronnie. That would add more excitement. It would be like football. Very seldom does a team win the superbowl for years in a row. Ronnie would still be a top competitor and may even win again years down the road. That would make the sport more exciting if you don't know who's going to win before the show.

Bro, Sean Ray is one of the lighter juicers, what are you doing even talking shit about him. He doesn't look like a freak at all. He's in great shape. I do agree BB is going the wrong way. Once all these guys start dying off it'll change. Nothing is going to change now. This is a pointless thread there are 100's of them here.

Bro..read a little slower..I didn't say Sean Ray looks like a freak. In fact he looks amazing. He has a classic old school physique. Great proportions. Definitely not freaky.

Sean Ray knows he is not going to win. He know that the judges want FREAKY big. And I have great respect for him for not going down that road.

These judges are fucking assholes. The few I have seen don't even look like they work out!!!!

They don't care about the sport or the well-being of the athletes..because there are always people who will do whatever it takes to win.

Who are these judges? Who picks them?

Is IFBB bullshit? Does Weider pick the winner? I have always believed that. If not directly then indirectly.

Ronnie coleman deserves mr. olympia honors, and jay cutler will have his day, but until then ronnie is KING! From what I could tell form the Fox broadcast of it Jay should have won & probably would have won except for the fact he was very very nervous. You could tell he was the new guy. The other guys were bumping people out of the way posing and showing off. Jay stood there lost for quite some time, he needs to learn to be more aggresive. I think if he'd been more of a show off & pushed some poeple out of the way the decision might have been different. Jay is young & is bound to be Mr O very soon I'd say but, this year it might be even harder. Ronnie has something to prove & may come in with some serious ass shredding this year. I think this year will be a great contest. There are some truely awesome guys out there right now. My personal favorite is Gunter. I was reading an article in Flex about his new trainer & how he wants Gunter to come in at a contest weight of 300lbs that's one big MoFo & one hell of a nice guy.

Well going into the posedown Cutler had won 2 rounds and Ronnie had one. But in the final round ( a bullshit round if you ask me) Ronnie was placed first ( i guess rightly so) and Cutler was place third catapulting Ronnie to the win.

The sad part is Ronnie did not win because of his incredible stature that CN1 and all the other Coleminites keep talking about...you see Cutler won both MUSCULARITY and SYMMETRY and in my books and in every Olympia to date the winner of these two rounds is the Champ.

Ronnie may be a great guy and i think he is incredible but if everybody and their mom and the fucking JUDGES give Jay the two REAL bbing rounds then Jay really did get screwed and that is the issue here not how cool Ronnie is or how he fuckin doesn't deserve to win.

Ronnie may the biggest, but symmetrically Jay Cutler looked better. He just looked a little bit better. Of course this is all personal opinion. Both looked awesome and I'm sure the judges had a hell of a time deciding. Chill out CN1. Your boy had a good run. I think it is/was his final win as Mr. O.

And I don't know what people were talking about..Ronnie could not pose. I didn't think he posed well at all. He looked tired....

BUT he had the RED WHITE AND BLUE....

Cutler was too layed back during the final posedown.

It really doesn't matter how the posedown round turned out..Ronnie was meant to win that Mr.O fair or not. Cutler could have came out and rocked the house at the posedown but he still would have lost that round.
Same thing with Flex losing the posing round to Ronnie in '98..how that hell did that happen??lol
 
Cutler need to do it next year or he might suffer the same fate as Shawn Ray and Flex Wheeler.

I remember when those guys were rookies everyone thought they would eventually win the Olympia.
