Check that article out. It talks about a multiplayer game that will sell items and weapons to your character in excahnge for some real life dinero.

You setup an account and for every real dollar you spend you will get 10 PEDs (Project Entropia Dollars). You can spend them freely in the game. You can also exchange the PEDs for some real money too, "perhaps more than they initially invested."

I wouldn't think that people would actually do this, but the article also talks about how people are auctioning pc game characters off on Ebay for some crazy amounts.

Manalope the Vicar is a level 60 cleric in Sony's online role playing game "Everquest." He's got amulets and magic rings out the wazoo, more hit-points than he knows what to do with and is the proud owner of the chestplate of vindication.

Manalope's for sale on eBay - and as of Wednesday morning, he had bids totaling $2,000, with five days left in the auction. That same day, a level 60 warrior will be sold. Current bid price: $1,200.
