One arm chinups..

I can't get close. If you really want to train for this I'd start doing them on a gravitron witrh as much assistance as you need to do sets of 5-8 to condition the arm, then drop the assistance to where you canonly do 3-5 per set. Keep dropping resistance whenever you can do a set of 5. Eventually you should be able to get one without any assistance. You'll also know how much work you have ahead of you the first time you try it. Personally, I wouldn't bother training for this unless we're talking decent $$$ or I'm already close to doing one anyway.

<< not close... I can probably do about 25-30 pullups with my bodyweight(170), and pull out 1 rep with just over an additional 90lbs....but still..1arm..alot harder than I thought.

You need both strength and stabillity

Where is your hand ?
Right in the middle ?

Anyway, congrats to those who can perform that exercice :)

I've seen a 130lb rock climber do a one-arm chin, but the guy looked prepubescent and had maybe 19" thighs. If anyone over 220 or so can do one I would be amazed.

To answer your question, I dont think you have a chance in hell of doing one unless you're a skinny genetic freak. Sorry, just being realistic

It's very hard I know a guy who can do 1xBW(75kg) + 70kg attached and he cannot do one 1 arm chinup. I can do over 50 chins but not even 1 one amr chinup.

I think Jobu idea is a good way to train, also you can try Negative One Arm Chinup ! If you can lower ~140% of your bodyweight on one arm you should be able to do 1 one arm chinup.

the kind where you support or stabilize with the second arm are MUCH easier. doing one strictly with only one arm is something very few people can do.

i think it is a almost imposible to do a one handed chin up without the other arm braceing yourself. when i was in the marine me and my friend tried with just one arm could not do it. by the way i was 170 and doing 30+ with 2 hands and he was 180 doing almost 40.
