Old Schoolers, opinions

I've read through the "Old School" training method and it sounds pretty good to me. One question though is that this only requires 3 days a week at the gym, what the hell else do you do? Can I work out on other days too? On the days I'm not Old Schooling, can I do some light training to keep my definition? Cardio? Help me out guys.

It just seems like 3 days isnt enough. Of couse, that's without me being on the program.

Any opinions if cardio, abs, forearms would be good on the "off" days?
 
I've always made my best gains in size and strength on 3 days a week. I need the days off to recover. I have trouble training intensely 2 days in a row.
