thanks k...

i was told by a counsellor at the school

There is a reason this guy is a counselor at the school.

With graphic design as with any job, companies will prefer experience. However, if you can get interviews (which you will through pesistence) you will distinguish yourself as a good candidate or a poor one based on your ability to converse intelligently with the interviewer about your skills and how you can help the enterprise.

best of luck

My company hires almost all it's new college grads thru
the "co-op" program.
The college student works here a semester then goes to school
a semester, back and forth.
Takes longer to graduate, but easier to pay for college.
Both sides get a better look at what they're getting.
On graduation we offer jobs to probably 80% of the co-ops
and about half of them accept.
Talk to the college recruiter about co-op recruiters coming to your campus.

Yeah I have ideas coming out my ears but your not listening...............you'll be fine. Once they meet you they will give two shit about 2 to 4 years.

Look at me..........I have a brown bag for a piece of paper and it never stops me. Go for it!

two things:

1) what John90210 said is dead on. I have many coworkers that did this in school and they are respected and they know their shiznit.

2) when you do go on interviews, wear tight lowcut shirts. that way you can hope to distract them from your resume. bat your eyelashes a lot.
hell, it's worked twice for me.

lol @ happy... if i had some boobs that might work... heehee

anyway, john i have thought of doing a coop marketing degree but it's in my home city and i really want to move away to a big city (preferably the US) away from my family. so... well, if i can get into a program in another city that would be ok... but i really hope to just finally get into the job market after i graduate. i don't know if this is reasonable but i'm really tired of school...

Hey small. I just graduated in May and I had the same fearful thoughts, however, I am happy to announce that I got work right away as an IT consultant.

Basically 2 years experience is the minimum they can put in their job opportunities, which means entry level. Can you imagine if they put 0 years experienc required? This is how they weed out those with no confidence. So definitely go after those. 2-4 is a good target.

In the meantime, you could do some work for yourself or with friends, even if you don't get paid for it, it's experience. You're in graphid design right? So is my best friend. You could do some business cards for someone, like she did for me, design logos, etc etc web sites, whatever. but it shows an employer that you can apply your knowledge and that you have the drive and ambition to learn and work.

And network baby! most jobs are found by who you know and through the back door so to speak. Talk to as many people as possible and let them know what you are all about. Before you graduate you must do this.

Best of luck....:D
